Now is the time to demand safer streets from our elected officials

We need protected bike lanes on Spruce and Pine Streets with permanent hardened barriers and an end to the dangerous practice of using these lanes for vehicle parking and loading.

We are shocked and horrified by the images and stories of Dr. Barbara Friedes, who was killed while biking on the 1800 block of Spruce Street. Murdered by a reckless motorist and by a city government that has failed to provide for her safety.

One developer, West Powelton Development (WPD), headed by Germantown native Anthony Fullard, is about to submit a formal proposal to the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation to acquire the Germantown Town Hall and rehabilitate it. In order to make that happen, however, Fullard’s company will build a 39-unit apartment building with ground-floor retail behind it, on its parking lot.

🧱Read more about the plan at nwlocalpaper.com/back-to-life, and comment below what YOU think of this plan.
