Code of Conduct
The Philadelphia Foundation encourages all of our viewers to comment on our Facebook posts and to share our content with others. Our goal is to offer a forum for the exchange of ideas, where our viewers feel free to express themselves. However, we also recognize that some conversations can stir up strong feelings and opinions which could lead to heated debates.
For that reason, when comments descend into derogatory remarks and personal attacks, we reserve the right to remove comments on those pages.
We encourage comments that:
• Are “on topic” and that respond to the content in the post.
• Are responses to comments left by other readers.
• Are brief and to the point.
• Have a positive/constructive tone.
• Are open to being contradicted by other readers.
• Might disagree with the content of the post or comment, but they never insult the writer of the post or other commenters.
We discourage comments that:
• Are not “on topic” or are not responding to other comments or the content in the post.
• Insult the writer of the post or other commenters.
• Are excessively long or negative in tone
We will delete comments and posts, without notice, that:
• Are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful or which contain racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content.
• Post or transmit sexually explicit images or other content that is deemed by The Philadelphia Foundation to be offensive.
• Are personal attacks, including name-calling or celebrations of another person’s misfortune.
• Contain advertising or spam.
• Are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging
• Violate any of Facebook’s Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.
Violations of The Philadelphia Foundation’s Code of Conduct will cause a commenter to be blocked from making future posts or comments on The Philadelphia Foundation’s page.
How We Will Use This Space
The Philadelphia Foundation has created this page to help build awareness of its work, which includes making nonprofits stronger and promoting generosity well spent.
We encourage our many contacts in the community – fund-holders, grant recipients, wealth managers, civic leaders and the general public – to join us in discussing these topics and sharing resources in conjunction with them.
