ICYMI 📢 📢 If you missed CRCC’s live panel discussion hosted by the on demand replay is now available! “Not a SAFE Bet” paper and panel breaks down what we all need to hear about the SAFE Banking Act 🗣

1. SAFE is not a bill for equity. It doesn’t even mention the word.
2. Increased access to banking is not the same as equitable access to banking.
3. And, CRCC has worked collaboratively with multiple organization, legislators, and banking experts to develop passable solutions or suggested amendments that can help move the bill closer to its marketing plan of “equitable banking for all”.

Last month, congressional leaders eliminated SAFE Banking Act from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). While many supporters of SAFE conflated the bill’s purpose into talking points about its benefits for equity, CRCC believes this removal allows us the opportunity to actually fix the bill to be more equitable for the people most in need. Learn more in a op-Ed penned by our Chair, 📝

“While many criticized the efforts to hold the line in NY for equity-centered legalization, passage of the MRTA last year, one of the country’s most equitable approaches to legal cannabis, has rendered those criticisms a distant memory. Here’s to SAFE banking undergoing a similar evolution in this new year.”
