IMPORTANT: Prepare for a Major Winter Storm - Stay Safe & Informed
Dear Residents,
A significant winter storm is expected to impact our community beginning before dawn on Sunday the 25th continuing through Monday the 26th. We expect heavy snowfall, strong winds, and possibly icy conditions. Roads will become extremely hazardous, and we urge everyone to take immediate precautions to ensure their safety and the well-being of their neighbors.
Key Safety Directives:
STAY HOME: Avoid all non-essential travel. Roads, bridges, and sidewalks will be slick and potentially impassable.
Prepare Now: Ensure you have enough food, water, medication, flashlights, and batteries for at least 72 hours.
Check on Vulnerable Neighbors: Reach out to the elderly, disabled, and those living alone. Offer assistance with shoveling or checking supplies.
Clear Sidewalks: Property owners must clear sidewalks of snow and ice to prevent falls and allow emergency access.
Car Safety: If stranded, stay in your vehicle, turn on hazard lights, and periodically clear snow from your exhaust pipe to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Weather Details: Temps will be extremely cold and windy (dangerous conditions).
Snowfall: Expect anywhere from 6 to 20 inches of snow, with heavy accumulation at times.
Winds: Strong winds with gusts up to 25-35 MPH could cause blowing snow and drifts.
Temperatures: Frigid temperatures will make surfaces extremely slick.
Resources & Updates: Monitor local news and radio for updates.
Report hazards by calling 911 for emergencies or 215-328-8515 for non-emergencies.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community safe during this challenging weather event.
Sincerely,
The Richland Township Emergency Management/Public Works Department
