Team Cruz This page will be used to keep everyone updated throughout Cruz's leukemia journey. Address for Cruz:
1600 Rockland Rd. (3 East, Room 43)
Wilmington, DE

Cruz was diagnosed with a rare, high-risk form of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) on March 4, 2015, just 1 month after his 7th birthday. One minute we were planning his birthday party and the next minute we were taking him to the hospital. Because his leukemia is high risk, a bone-marrow transplant gives him the best chance of survival. Cruz went through 4 rounds of chemotherapy followed by a bon

e-marrow transplant on July 1st, 2015. He is currently being treated at A.I. Dupont Children's Hospital in Wilmington, DE. Cruz has fought hard for the past 4 months and is determined to conquer cancer!

341 days since transplant! Thank you God for every single day that we are able to spend together. Cruz is officially done with 2nd grade and has been cleared to return to Glen Acres Elementary as a 3rd grader in the fall!! He is playing up on a 9u travel baseball program, Team Phenom. (I will have to post some videos soon.) He is getting stronger everyday. He goes to the doctor every 3 months for check-ups, and this afternoon will serve as his 1 year post-transplant check-up. Please pray that all his tests are clean and show that his immune system keeps getting stronger! Thank you. xoxo

Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have been on FB! Life has been very busy for us. Cruz is now 159 days post transplant, and he is up and running and having fun. He's down to 2 medicines twice a day which is a huge blessing. He also had his central line removed 2 weeks ago. He was told that as soon as the steri strips fell off, he could finally take a bath. Well, they decided to fall off at midnight a couple of days ago, so guess who stripped down and took a long bath until 1:00 a.m.! :) We had a pretty low key Thanksgiving, but it was the best yet! Here is a pic of my 2 turkeys. Look at how curly his hair is coming in...I love it! Thanks for keeping Cruz in your thoughts and prayers. I am forever grateful.

Thank you all for keeping Cruz in your prayers! The surgery went well. He is in some pain but otherwise great. Hopefully, we will find out what is causing the fluid within the next couple of days. I will keep y'all posted.

Please say a little prayer for Cruz this afternoon. He is having the fluid drained around his heart because it is slowly getting larger. They will then take a biopsy to try and figure out what is causing it. I will update everyone as soon as we know more. Thanks so much everyone!

Day 100! I cannot believe it's been 100 days since his bone marrow transplant. I thank God for giving us a second chance at life. We still have a long way to go, but we will def. celebrate every milestone along the way! Cruz is now able to eat out, very limited of course, so tonight we reserved a private room at Sullivan's. He is super excited to dress up and celebrate!! Please pray that his echo today shows no fluid around his heart or significantly less fluid. Thank you everyone!!
