Monrovia, Liberia – The Economic Reform Alliance (ERA) announces that its Chairman, Mr. Hamilton Greene, will host a press conference next week on Wednesday to address several pressing national issues currently affecting Liberia.

Since the inauguration of the new Liberian president, the nation has faced numerous challenges, including widespread corruption, misappropriation of funds, unexplained deaths of citizens, and a sharp increase in the price of the country’s staple food, rice. Additionally, there has been a critical shortage of medication in hospitals, further exacerbating the plight of the citizens.

In a recent development, the Liberian Senate reportedly spent over $450,000 USD on a retreat, raising further concerns about the management of public funds.

The press conference aims to shed light on these issues and propose viable solutions to promote transparency, accountability, and improved governance in Liberia.

The Economic Reform Alliance invites all media houses and concerned citizens to attend this important event.

Thanks

Signed

Subject: A Call to Action: Uniting for Reform, Transparency, and Good Governance in Liberia

In an era of transformative change and enduring challenges, the Economic Reform Alliance (ERA) is at the forefront of championing economic reform, transparency, and good governance in Liberia. Our mission, grounded in advocacy, civic education, and strategic collaboration with like-minded entities and individuals, is more critical now than ever. As a vibrant movement committed to the principles of democracy and accountability, ERA seeks not only to address the symptoms but to eradicate the roots of systemic corruption, bad governance, nepotism, and tribalism that have hindered our nation's progress.

It is with great enthusiasm and a sense of shared purpose that ERA congratulates Mulbah Morlu on launching the new civil society movement, Solidarity & Trust A New Day (STAND). This initiative comes at a pivotal moment for our country, as we navigate the complexities of a new government era. STAND symbolizes the dawn of hope and collective resolve essential in our journey toward national renewal and integrity.

The call to action is clear and urgent. ERA urges civil society organizations, advocates, activists, and all citizens committed to the cause of a better Liberia, to unite under the banner of reform and accountability. Our collective efforts are indispensable in ensuring that the new government adheres to the highest standards of the law, promotes human rights, and vigorously combats corruption.

Our history, marred by the shadows of corruption and misgovernance, serves as a compelling reminder of the stakes involved. The path to national recovery and prosperity is paved with the values of solidarity, trust, and unwavering commitment to the public good. As ERA continues to lead and inspire through its work, we extend an open invitation to all who share our vision for a just, transparent, and accountable Liberia.

This is a call to join hands, to stand together in solidarity, and to recommit ourselves to the noble cause of uplifting our nation. Together, with movements like STAND and the support of the global community, we have the power to shape a future defined by the ideals we cherish.

Let us seize this moment to forge a united front against the ills that plague our society. Let our actions reflect our dedication to the principles of democracy, peace, and sustainable development. Together, we can build a Liberia that stands as a beacon of hope, prosperity, and justice for all.

January 10, 2023:
Press Statement for immediate release:

The Economic Reform Alliance (ERA) launches the All-Liberian Conference:

Fellow Liberians, it is with a renewed vigor and optimal sense of patriotism the Economic Reform Alliance extends to you our heartfelt greetings.
As 2023 presents another crossroad in the political governance and social existence of our People and country at large, the need to derive a collective approach to addressing governance and social issues confronting our common patrimony cannot be overemphasized.

As customary, October this year we will again collectively gather at the electoral polls to cast our votes either for continuation of the current system of governance or election of a new corps of officers to steer the ship of affairs for the republic for another six years.

All through the electoral year, it is the aspiration of the Economic Reform Alliance that we do not backtrack our progress towards nation building by reverting to violence and other anti-social tendencies. Amidst all of the electoral scuffles, paramount on the agenda of ERA is the sustenance of our hard-earned peace and flourishing democracy amongst others.

With the aforesaid, we would like to reimagine the significance of Liberians in the Diaspora in sustaining the economic and social gains we have made together over the period of time. For decades, Liberians living abroad have shown leadership in resolving poverty, agitating for social change and reshaping their family and friends lives through direct and indirect assistance and other social programs.

During both Ebola 2014-2015 and the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Diaspora Liberians showed leadership by leading community services and expanding programs that subsidized food, medical and health care services as well as call for justice among others.

Ahead of the General Elections, the collective inclusion of all Liberians in lending their perspective to address interrelated and rising challenges is a paramount pathway for good governance and holistic nation building through the collective involvement of every Liberian home and abroad.

Over the time, one of the major challenges preventing the full participation of Liberians abroad into our political governance and socio-economic investment climate was the Alien and Nationality Law.
Liberians abroad who took up other citizenships for social benefits had a sense that their identity as a Liberian was questioned, their sense of belonging became skewed and as a result of that, they became less interested in activities back home and started looking forward to their new country of citizenship as a place to call home.

This situation has divided our Liberian community for a protracted period now and without doubt has had its own downturn on the national economy and manpower contribution to national recovery agenda as a country.

As a way of mitigating this situation, In July of 2022, the president signed into law a bill that amends the country’s Alien and nationality law. This act demonstrated the government of Liberia commitment to unification and inclusivity through the dual citizenship law that allows Liberians to hold on to their citizenship after acquiring a second nationality.

This was a major win for the country as Liberians abroad are now increasingly looking into going back home for investment purposes and even contributing their professional services thereby strengthening the overall workforce capacity of the republic.

Given these numerous progress, The Economic Reform Alliance is key on pioneering the biggest Liberian diaspora conference to promote unification and solidarity while deepening the conversation on how we can reshape our contribution to mama Liberia.

This conference will be named and styled the All-Liberian Conference and will reflect ERA’s commitment to upholding our democracy by providing the platform for all Liberians to meaningfully participate and make their voices heard.

In order to successfully implement this mandate, the leadership of ERA do hereby appoint the following individuals to the Conference Steering Committee:

1. Henry Garneo —— Chairman
2. Varfee Acquoi —— Co-Chairman
3. Michael Tipayson—— SG
4. Arkie Tarr —— Member
5. Emmanuel Flomo —— Member
6. Alplato Padmore —— member
7. Emmanuel Kpartor —— Member
8. Marie Paye —— Member

The 2023 All Liberian Conference will be held in Washington DC from the 20th to 23rd of April 2023 and will be powered under the theme “Enhancing our Democracy through collective engagements.

The conference will remain ERA’s flagship event during major electoral periods such as the general presidential elections and the mid-term senatorial elections, and it is expected that this 2023 event will bring together over 500 Liberians in and out of the diaspora including leaders of major political parties and other stakeholders in our democracy.

The goal of the Conference is to reignite a collective sense of patriotism among Liberians and foster a change mantra that will see the full involvement of every Diaspora Liberians in the national investment climate as well as governance system.

It is the true intend of the Economic Reform Alliance to have most if not all Liberians abroad deeply involved in the national decision-making processes as well as economic empowerment initiatives that will engender socio-economic change at community and national level.

Fellow Liberians, this is a period in our history that we all must put aside our political differences and recollect our actions to enhance our young democracy. If Liberia will thrive it require the collective efforts of all of us. The Economic Reform Alliance cannot do this alone, inevitable we need this youthful energetic generation to champion this change, this is our time, and this our generation will lead the charge.

The Economic Reform Alliance - ERA wants to officially recognize the incredible feat of its Chairperson of the Liberia Chapter in person of Kimberline A C Annan as she bags a prestigious award for her indelible contribution to the education sector of Liberia.

Kimberline comes from a humble beginning and has been very much instrumental in the formation and growth of our movement (ERA) both international and on the home front.

As Chairperson for the Liberia Chapter, Kim has ensured the familiarity of the movement among our youthful population back home and has also committed to propagating the message of young people’s leadership in national governance through ERA all across the length and breadth of the Republic.

We want to say we are very proud of you Kim and we are overly confident that you will do exceedingly well in your new role as Vice Principal for Administration at the Lott Carey Mission Baptist School.

ERA keeps raising the bar high and telling the world that we (young people) are ready for leadership and there is no better time than now.

Congratulations again Kimberline Anna

The THUGGISH-OVERSTAYED youth chairman of the CDC (Jefferson Koijee) must account for his atrocities:

Distinguished Liberians, we extend to you our fervent greetings.

As Dr. King succinctly placed it, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. This is the case with our society today and gradually we are seeing the ugly monster of lawlessness creeping into our democracy, this must be checked before it takes us back to our heydays.

Since the inception of this moribund slapdash regime, the Liberian people have known nothing but fear and intimidation from the overstayed youth chairperson of the Congress for Democratic change who also happens to be the unchecked power drunk mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation in person of Jefferson Tamba Koijee.

On countless occasions, it has been reported that Jeff (for abbreviation purpose) has meted violence against peaceful Liberians during electioneering and other democratic processes all in the name of executing party mandate in efforts of perpetuating the unwanted CDC control over the political and intellectual spaces of our national governance.

If you can recall, in November of 2018 during the district 13 by-elections, many peaceful citizens of District #13 were brutalized on a campaign trail of then candidate Cornelia Kruah- Togba and hundreds of societal derelicts (Zogos) led by Jeff were caught on live television parading the principal streets of New Georgia armed to the teeth with machetes and other small arms inflicting mayhem to those who took to the street to exercise their democratic franchise against the candidate of the failing regime.

As if that wasn’t enough to prick the conscience of the semi-educated and self-imposed di**it, he again was involved in another violent scandal where a young lady (Jestina Taylor) who threatened to expose his hidden child soldier memories was found grossly beaten, r***d, and left half dead.

The violent nature of Koijee is fast becoming a national embarrassment and has even sparked international attention. In 2020, US Congressman Chris Smith recognized and indicated that Jeff Koijee was involved in a series of severe human rights violations referencing several different instances of his thuggish actions. For example; In 2016 a member of the CDC youth league in person of one Montgomery was mercilessly beaten on the order of Koijee and even placed behind bars at the CDC headquarters in Congo Town.

Since the CDC regime took office in 2018, Jeff has approbated unto himself unchecked power causing lawlessness across the Republic and secretly leading the ex*****on of anyone believed to pose a threat to the CDC’s existence and hold onto power.

It is no secret that Jefferson Koijee is the ringleader for the fearsome death squad called the Zebra unit in Liberia that is infamously notorious for being the ex*****on arm of the regime, eliminating all its potential threats with the Vanguard student unification party being its most recent victim.

Distinguished Liberians, just few days ago we saw another glaring manifestation of outright gangsterism and hooliganism orchestrated by elements of the Congress for Democratic Change - CDC at the behest of this very same Jefferson Koijee. Young students protesters were stampede upon by thugs leaving several wounded and others fighting for their lives in hospitals across the country. Notable amongst the students victims is young revolutionary cadre Christopher Walter Sisulu Sivili who was stripped naked, gruesomely beaten, and injected with unknown harmful substance. At the moment, Chris is seriously battling for his life on hospital bed.

This CDC madness needs to stop, the national cancer in Koijee needs to be cut-off as soon as possible, Jefferson Koijee poses a serious threat to our democracy and anything that resembles civility.

From electoral brutality to mercilessly beating and ra**ng other citizens, from violently manipulating national youth and students’ elections to secret killings of critical voices against the regime, Jefferson Koijee’s handprint is found all over everything that has to do with chaos and anarchy across the country.

Fellow Liberians, this is not the change we hoped for, this is not the Liberia we all envisaged. Our civil crisis has ended for about 20 years now, we cannot be reminded of the Chucky Taylor days, we cannot be brought back to the days were a handful of people administered jungle justice and there was no accountability for their actions or inactions.

Today, the Economic Reform Alliance (ERA) wants to assure the Liberian people that we will not go down that road again, we will not be treated like animals in our own country. People will be held accountable for whatever they do, and that commitment will start by bringing the reincarnated Chucky Taylor in Jefferson T. Koijee to book. We will engage whatever means possible including lobbying with congress in Washington to put a stamp on this menace, we will continue this call until Jefferson Koijee is brought to justice for all the lives he has taken and threatened.

We ask every well-meaning Liberian to join us in this fight against injustice and ensure Liberia is safe for us all to thrive. Until it is Uhuru, the struggle continues.

Statement of Endorsement

ERA endorses the planned July 26, Fix The Country Protest, calls on all Liberians to rally in solidarity of support to end bad governance:

Comrades and Friends,

ERA has followed with keen attention the wave of happening in our country and we are bewildered by the continuous rise in the cost of living and hardship that continues to characterize the lives of the Liberian people.
As a grassroots movement, ERA sees itself in the struggles and challenges of our people and so, in an era where the people are struggling and crying, we can never remain resolute nor timid.

ERA states categorically clear that the hardship and poverty of the Liberian people are being chiefly orchestrated by the current leadership headed by the ex-soccer dolt in Amb. George M. Weah.

Since its inception into office in 2018, The Weah’s government continues to push more Liberians into poverty, hardship and decadence at an unprecedented rate, and through all the pains our people continue to endure, the government has shown nothing but indifference and gross disregard to their sufferings and destitution.

The government do not care to change the narrative of the people, had this government been sensitive and honest about the material conditions of the Liberian people, ERA believes that the regime of the day would have devise doable resolution to reverse the current despicable trend of the Republic. To the contrary, all we’ve seen under Mr. Weah has been misrule, failed policies and hardship. This is the tragedy of our Liberia today.

Day after day, all we hear is President Weah and his gang of public looters feasting on the state’s coffers. Just as early as 4months in his presidency, Amb. Weah was found building tens of private condominiums across the country. As if that was not enough, his henchmen in Tweah, McGill and Jefferson Koijee, are building and buying multiple exotic structures literally all around the country. From all indications, this group of public handlers are on a mission to get rich quick or die trying. We as a people cannot sit and let this industrial looting go uncheck, we cannot sit and see handful of greedy bigots loot our state off its last drop. This has to stop and there’s no better time than now!

ERA is also appalled by the wave of mysterious deaths that have taken over the country. While many persons are dying, the state and its security apparatuses have been unable to provide answers and justifiable reasons to our people.
Our people cannot be struggling to find ends-meet and at the same time looking over their shoulders for their lives, this is totally unacceptable and unbearable, this has to stop!

On these notes and with other compendium of issues, ERA unconditionally and immediately endorses the planned FIXTHECOUNTRY protest being organized by the Vanguard student unification party (SUP) and calls on all its members, cadres, and Liberians to join us in this conscious endeavor.

ERA promises to commit her fullest resources, energy and strategies to mobilize and organize to make sure that this protest achieve its ultimate objectives.
We believe it is needless to celebrate an Independence Day when thousands of Liberians are dying from minor sicknesses, when hundreds of children are lacking access to education, when hundreds of young people are unemployed, hungry and losing their lives to drugs while state actors keep pillaging the national’s wealth without remorse.

We will join the students and all conscious Liberians to demand genuine change from the Weah-led government..

In the cause of the people, the struggle continues…!

Economic Reform Alliance (ERA) Chairman Speaks at CEIO:

The political leader of a youth-led pro democracy political movement under the name Economic Reform Alliance (ERA) will on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 appears at the Center for the Exchange of Intellectual Opinions (CEIO) to speak on variety of issues confronting the governance system of the Republic.

ERA was birthed in Philadelphia in August of 2019 by group of present and former students and youth leaders of Liberia who themselves have suffered the pinch of socio-economic inequalities, bad governance and national structural deficit and decided to say enough is enough!

As a youth driven political movement, ERA seeks to engender a platform that provides an inclusive opportunity for young people to actively form part of the governance process of the state as well as other national leadership discourses and the movement believes that to do this, it requires the collective involvement of all and sundry.

Chairman Hamilton Greene appearance at CEIO will be gauging young people’s perspective on the current state of affairs of the republic ranging from Agriculture, economic security, infrastructure, law and order etc. In his appearance, Chairman Greene conversation would primarily border around young people’s involvement in the aforementioned areas of national leadership.

For so long young people have been used as canon folders for selfish politicians, for so long young people have been used as scapegoats for greedy leaders, ERA intends to put a stamp on that! If the future truly belongs to young people, it is about time we play a meaningful role in shaping that future.

As ERA begins its year-long nationwide engagement with the people of Liberia, particularly the young people, the movement believes it wise to start such initiative by having an honest interaction with Liberians who themselves are experiencing the consequences of misrule first hand.

The change we all envisaged for Liberia cannot and will not be attain by sudden flight, it requires all of us boots in the slums and trenches of the motherland, it requires our collective efforts, nothing more, nothing less.

All around the world, young people are taking charge of their destiny, this is a national revolution we tend to embark upon and we seek to evoke the revolutionary spirit within every young person to join this cause, we have to leave our comfort zones, pick up our literatures and educate the mass of our people on the significance of young people involvement in national leadership.

If you believe in this cause, Wednesday June 8, 2022 will be the the right time to join the caravan, come at CEIO, bring your critical analysis and let us all form a unified agenda for our generation. See you at CEIO by 3:00pm as the Arrow-head of ERA in Chairman Hamilton B Greene provides a cross-sectional analysis of where we came from as a people, where we are as a generation and where we want to be in the comity of nations.
