JEFFERSON, Ga. — A fiery debate has erupted across the trucking community after two deadly crashes produced vastly different outcomes in court.
In Georgia, 33-year-old Kane Aaron Hammock was released from jail after posting an $83,000 bond following an I-85 crash that killed eight members of the same family, including five children and an unborn baby. Hammock faces multiple counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, vehicular feticide, and traffic violations.
The Georgia State Patrol and NTSB continue investigating whether speed or distracted driving played a role in the October 13 tragedy.
But in Florida, Harjinder Singh, an undocumented truck driver, remains jailed without bond over an August 12 Florida Turnpike crash that killed three people. Singh faces federal and state charges and has been cited as a catalyst for Florida’s lawsuit against California and Washington for allegedly issuing CDLs to undocumented drivers.
The contrast between the two cases has sparked nationwide outrage, raising questions about bias, consistency, and fairness in the justice system.
