BURN BANS:

I've had a few people reach out in regards to some fake burn ban maps that are going around, so I just wanted to share this in case any one needs it!

Here is a direct link to the Arkansas Forestry Division's official burn ban map.

Risk levels are determined by fuel conditions, drought status, and long-term weather forecasts. They are categorized by how easily fires can start and how hard they are to contain. The risk level definitions are:

The Perry County Office of Emergency Management would like to thank everyone who responded to the stranded AmeriGas truck who had been stranded on Stony Point Road yesterday.

Thank you so much to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office Arkansas , and to the towing companies who came to try and render aid, A-State Towing, Broadway Towing & Recovery, and Blessed Recovery & Towing LLC.

Yesterday at around 9:45 AM, an AmeriGas truck attempted to make it up the hill on the Perry/Houston side of Stony point, and became stranded. The truck and driver remained stranded for almost 13 hours. A-State Towing managed to get a mini excavator out to the scene and was able to dig a path back down the hill, which allowed the truck to come back down safely.

Thank you once again to everyone involved with helping get them out safely!

This should also serve as a HAZARDOUS ROAD WARNING, as Stony Point Road is NOT safe to travel yet. Please, don't risk these dangerous roads!

⛔️ HAZARDOUS ROADS UPDATE ⛔️

Highway 216, and Highways 300 East/West

Highway 216 is almost completely clear, with one notable hazardous area between Greathouse Creek and the 300 East Junction. Use extreme caution in this area (pictured below)!

Highway 300 East to Pleasant Valley is mostly clear with areas of slush/ice in shady areas. If you're out and about, please take it slow and watch for these areas!

Highway 300 West, similar to East, is also mostly clear. There are a few spotty ice/slush patches, with the most notable hazard areas being at both ends of 300 West (near Highway 9/10, and near Highway 216).

Be safe out there, and watch for those shady patches!

⛔️ HAZARDOUS ROADS UPDATE ⛔️

Highway 9 South, Thornburg, Highway 324 South

Highway 9 South over Thornburg Mountain is almost completely clear, with a few slushy spots (primarily in the center lane on both sides of the mountain.) Highway 9 South between Thornburg and Williams Junction is also almost completely clear, with some slush/ice mix in a few places. HOWEVER, a spot to be cautious of, is the turn just before you get to the 324 South Junction (Lake Sylvia Turnoff). There is still a thick mix of packed ice here, as pictured below.

Highway 9 South (To Paron) is partially clear, but still has a mix of packed ice and slush in the straight stretch just South of Williams Junction. I would still consider this area hazardous.

Highway 324 South to Lake Sylvia is still covered in packed ice/snow, and in some areas a mix of ice and slush. It has been bladed and sanded, but is still considered hazardous.

Stay safe out there, everyone!
