EXCITING NEWS ON NATIONAL POLICE K9 DAY!!

Today, on National Police K9 Day, we’re excited to officially introduce the newest member of the Perry Police Department — our K9! 💙🐕‍🦺

Our K9 (we will reveal the name later!)and his handler, Ofc. Perez, are currently preparing to serve our community, and our K9 team will be deploying very soon!

Bringing a K9 program back to Perry has been a goal made possible by the incredible support of our community, local businesses, City leaders, and everyone who has donated or committed to supporting this program. We cannot thank you enough! If you would like to donate to the K9 program please contact Sgt. Lott at the Police Department! We are looking for great business partners and community members to commit to supporting this amazing program!

Our K9 will be an incredible resource for our officers and our community, assisting with narcotics detection, tracking, apprehension, and other law enforcement operations.

We’re excited for you to follow our K9’s journey and see the impact this team will have throughout Perry and the surrounding area.

The City of Perry is hiring a full-time Administration Clerk for the Police Department. This role supports the Police Chief and City Administration with confidential clerical, payroll, billing, record‑keeping, permits, grant support, and general office duties. We’re looking for a detail‑oriented team player who embodies our values: Work Ethic, Problem Solving, Community Focus, Professionalism, Integrity, Accountability, and Stewardship.

Pay: $22–$26/hr DOE
Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life, LTD, IPERS, vacation & sick leave, holidays, personal days, clothing allowance, and Rec Center membership.

Chief Archer had the honor to attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Leadership Meeting hosted by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird with special guest FBI Director Cash Patel in Des Moines, along with chiefs, sheriffs, county attorneys and members of the Iowa Department of Public Safety from across the state.

The main focus was building relationships with federal, state and local law enforcement partners to combat human trafficking, violent crime and national and international organized crime pertaining to drugs and scams.

Working together and assisting each other are essential to making our communities safer.

Our officers enjoy getting out in the community and giving back and participating with community activities. Office Sparks was out at the Perry Farmer’s Market last evening for Public Safety Day. Sgt. Lott put on a bike rodeo and talked about bicycle safety with a large group of P.A.C.E.S. Students yesterday afternoon as well.

We had a great time hosting the amazing teachers and staff from Perry Elementary Pre-K at the Perry Police Department!

Thank you for taking the time to come out, tour our department, and spend the day with us. We truly enjoyed the opportunity to connect, share what we do, and give you a behind-the-scenes look at our operations.

We hope you enjoyed the drone demonstration as much as we enjoyed putting it on! It’s always a great opportunity to showcase some of the tools and technology we use to better serve our community.
