I had a wonderful time meeting with residents of the Glen Meadows community at Dejon Vineyard today. It was a perfect venue to enjoy the northern Baltimore County countryside. I’m looking forward to returning to Glen Meadows as its Councilman in December.

Residents want a variety of restaurants and grocery stores in their commercial areas, not three or four smoke shops in a single block. I was a sponsor of this bipartisan legislation with Baltimore County Councilman Mike Ertel and Councilman Izzy Patoka.

It sets limits on how many can be allowed within a certain distance, blocks smoke shops from opening near schools and other community centers, and forces smoke shops to dim their lighting - a major complaint I hear from many residents.

This was tough, complex legislation. Only one candidate in this race played a role in getting it passed.

The bill places restrictions on where smoke shops can be located in Baltimore County and outlines guardrails for their operations.

The Historic Jericho Covered Bridge is open to traffic!

Learn more about this beautiful and iconic structure. I was proud to secure the Baltimore County funding for a major rehabilitation of this bridge several years ago, with Harford County Government supporting the project.

Thank you to both counties for the recent minor repairs.

As Labor Day comes to a close, a reminder of the good work that is achieved when government partners with labor on common sense projects.

Thank you to Plumbers and Steamfitter Local Union 486 for your partnership and support!

On March 23, Councilman David Marks and leaders from Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local 486 toured the site of a future training center that will be located at 5811 Allender

Happy Labor Day! Thank you to all those who have fought for our labor movement and a strong workforce.

In particular, I thank those who we have partnered with, including those creating the new apprenticeship center in White Marsh—as well as our county employees. We appreciate you!

Oakhurst Park along the Seven Courts Drive corridor is one of numerous new playgrounds in our district. We worked with the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks to replace the equipment, as well as the Baltimore County Police and our state legislators to make sure kids can play safely.

Great to be joined by Delegate Ryan Nawrocki at the playground.

More than a quarter of Baltimore County’s population includes senior citizens.

I’m proud to have supported this project along with other upgrades to our senior centers, including at Seven Oaks.

Three of the biggest concerns I hear on the campaign trail:

❌ Traffic along the major corridors - routes like Glen Arm, Harford, and Manor Roads north of the Gunpowder River.

❌ Safety at Harford Road and Long Green Pike.

❌ Safety and rush-hour gridlock at Cub Hill and Cromwell Bridge Roads.

We will push for long-term improvements here, like we’ve successfully done elsewhere.

The resolution is expected to be introduced Tuesday by Baltimore County Council members David Marks and Nino Mangione.

As I knock on doors and meet residents across northern Baltimore County, many have expressed their frustration that not enough is being done to improve safety on our rural roads.

The answer isn’t simply “enforcement,” since there aren’t shoulders for police cars on many roads - and it isn’t always speed humps or speed cameras, the latter of which can only be installed at schools.

We need to look at best practices and develop some innovative approaches. That’s why Councilman Nino Mangione and I are introducing this resolution on Monday.

We’ve had success improving safety in urban areas, like White Marsh. I’ll be a strong advocate in the new rural communities of District 7.

NOTTINGHAM, Md. — Baltimore County Councilman David Marks will introduce a resolution at Tuesday’s legislative meeting that requires the Department of Public Works and Transportation to develop recommendations for rural road safety. The resolution directs the Department to hold a public hearing,...
