This week at Peoria North, we'll hear from local author Ken Zurski, author.

Ken is a longtime broadcaster and traffic reporter for 1470 WMBD-AM. He's the author of several books, including "The Wreck of the Columbia" and "Peoria Stories," and Ken has been featured on the HISTORY channel series “Mega Brands That Built America.”

Thanks to all the members who participated in this year's school supply drive hosted by the Rookie committee.

The boxes and totes of supplies were recently dropped off along with collected donations of $1,585 to help The Elise Ford Allen Academy K-8 purchase needed items for students.

We know these will be put to good use and give a little assistance to another successful academic year.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

As Rotarians, our guiding principle is "Service Above Self." On that fateful day, and in the weeks that followed, we witnessed the ultimate expression of this ideal.

The Rotary Club of Northern Guam has a beautiful memorial and due to the timezone is one of the first celebrations each year.

Let us carry that spirit of service forward. How can you show kindness or serve a neighbor today?

We are sad to share the passing of our dear friend and fellow Rotarian, Susie Smith.

Many of our members wouldn't be in the club today, including our current President, without following in Susie's footsteps.
She was one of the first female members of our club, first female President of our club, and first female District Governor of 6460!

Her maiden name was the epitome of who she was: Love. Susie loved her family, loved her friends, loved life, loved people, loved language, travel, and culture.

In 2023, we got to honor her in person as she left our club to be closer to her daughters in Chicago, but we remained in touch. We'll celebrate her impactful life together in December alongside her family.

Thank you to our many speakers today who gave us an update on the ongoing efforts, progress, and unfortunate tragedies in Ukraine 🇺🇦

Mark Rein and Dr. Steven Hamon recently went with a group of 18 people from all over the country on their 3rd humanitarian trip to Ternopil, Ukraine and assisted with efforts in cleanup and restoration along with mental health initiatives like PTSD supports and education.

Sasha and Luda Volyanyk are part of YWAM Youth With A Mission Ternopil Ministry in Ukraine, with program initiatives of:

• Refugee hosting
• Evacuation operations
• Temporary housing (My Home Project)
• Foster Village (Caminul Fenix)
