We appreciate Appalachian Voices providing additional information and answering some of the questions raised about the proposed park at the former Cas Walker site.

The park is being specifically designed to withstand flooding, manage stormwater, and help reduce flood damage to the surrounding area. The plans also continue to include an accessible playground, which was an important priority identified during our community meetings.

With the design now complete, the project team is moving forward with construction estimates and permitting. Once that work is finished, the Town and its partners will begin pursuing construction funding.

The Town of Pennington Gap is proud to help spread the word about the many FREE resources available through the Lonesome Pine Regional Library. Lee County Public Library

Employment Opportunity Through MEOC

The Town of Pennington Gap would like to share information about MEOC’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).

This program provides paid, work-based training for individuals who are 55 years of age or older, unemployed, meet income requirements, and live in Lee, Wise, or Scott County. Participants can work 20 hours per week while gaining valuable work experience and job skills.

If you qualify for this program, there may be an opportunity for placement right here with the Town of Pennington Gap.

We would love to see someone from our community take advantage of this program while gaining experience and helping serve our town.
