HUGE thanks to Brooke Biggins for this awesome and generous donation that showed up today! These supplies are so helpful! Esp the bite gloves, those will definitely be great to have on hand for the real wild critters! Thank you, it is SO appreciated!!

Happy June everyone 🌸 I have really been slacking on the updates this year, life has just been crazy, so I keep forgetting.
Buuuttttt that hasn’t stopped critters from arriving! So far I’ve got several squirrels and my latest intakes were some precious baby groundhogs!
I have made the decision to not take in any cottontails this year. They just require a lot of specialized skill and time that I just am unable to provide at this time unfortunately, maybe in the future I will take them again, but I just cannot commit to them now.
Also these teeny mouths are starting to eat me out of house and home! I plan to start doing some more lottery fundraisers so help offset the food costs since everything rehabbers do is entirely out of pocket!
As always thank you to everyone that recognizes critters in need of help and takes the time to get them here. Together we make this happen
Now enjoy some cute critter pics from the last few weeks 💗

I recieved my smallest intake yet yesterday. A baby vole. Her prognosis is very guarded due to her size and she has punctures from a cat, but it has been 24+ hours and she’s still chugging along so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I realized I never posted about my squirrels! I’ve had these nuggets for several weeks now, they were brought to me after they were found in a truck and mom was unable to be located. They are all doing great 🥰
I also recently received an injured baby groundhog, unfortunately his injuries were to severe and he passed away a few hours after starting treatments/ supportive care

Tonight my little Penelope Opossum got to start the first night of the rest of her life 🥹 such a bittersweet moment setting them free again. This case has probably been my favorite one this far, from coming in with hundreds (if not thousands) of maggots and eggs, barely breathing from the respiratory infection and lungworms to wandering off into the woods, it certainly brought a tear to my eye. Moments like this are what make it all worth it 🥹❤️ and thank you to her wonderful finder who got her help right away, together we make this happen

Perhaps Dr. Seuss wrote green eggs and ham about making eggs for opossums?
Probably not, but you never know 🤷🏻‍♀️
these are normal heathy eggs with veggies blended, NOT rotten eggs 🤣 this is just how I like to assure they are eating their veggies not just picking out the good stuff (like most kids🤣)
As disgusting as it looks, the possies think it is delectable and would probably agree I deserve a Michelin star for this creation

She has another 2 weeks of treatments and then she will be back on her way to freedom 🥰

Another little update, it’s been busy around here lately between dealing with my own sicknesses, and prepping for my wedding in just a few weeks, and just summer vacation in general, but I’ve found some time to take in a few more cuties!
Two sick baby squirrels with fly strike, unfortunately one did not make it, but the other one is doing great!
Then I took 3 baby opossums off the hands of another local rehabber as those little ones can be a lot of work! And it made for a great learning experience for me since they were my first ones! They have been SO fun 🤩
And lastly the other night I got a call about a juvenile female opossum with some of the worst fly strike I’ve ever seen. I’m betting that was secondary to some sort of trauma, as she’s got some other things going on as well. She’s on all sorts of meds and supportive care, and she’s still hanging in there. She’s not out of the woods yet, but I have more hope since she’s hung in there a few days 💕

Apparently while “mom” is away, the kids will play. This little baby got busted hanging out on his house 🤣 (they also don’t live in the driveway, I just had every door open this afternoon for maximum air flowage 😅)
