Jim Ferris Sharing my experiences, values and view points as your Town of Payson Councilman

This is Darlene Younker. I posted the letter about the Library Bill of Rights. Jim did not ask me to. We do know he is no longer on the Council and I wasnt trying to indicate he was. I must say, I'm proud to have a friend like Jim who isn't afraid to uphold the Bible. You don't agree. That is your right. I guess I just don't understand why you feel you must be hateful to express an opposite opinion.

Steve,

I see that this is an extension of our county government. Is the county trying to establish a high ESG score or are we just not concerned about conserving and protecting our traditional Christian values. It appears that the county is trying to embrace and normalize certain mental health issues. This is evil. My heart goes out to those who suffer gender dysphoria, but not to the extent that the general public or county employees needs to be enlightened on how we should accept, encourage and coddle behavior that runs against our religious beliefs.

Today the Payson Town Council is going to approve a motion to accept membership into the Gila County Library District which includes the ‘Library Bill of Rights’. The only rights it provides and protects are the rights of the LBGTQ+ community. They are free to come into our public libraries and push their abnormal lifestyle into the faces of our children. Why are there no stated rights and protection provided to our children and our community. Most of us happen to believe in age appropriateness. Are we afraid of how the leftist will react?

Four years ago, we had several Payson Town Council Members requesting that we not allow Biblical Scripture to be included in proclamations or council business. But it is just fine to allow Satanic beliefs to be displayed in our public facilities. My Lord, what have we become?

Why has the Town made it a point to create a separate document emphasizing the Library Bill of Rights? - To rub it in our faces? If you do not believe that this is a major concern for our parents, children, and the Christian community, then you have your head buried in the sand. Evil has reared its ugly head and we need to take a stand.

I offer an Amended Library Bill of Rights:

Payson Library Bill of Rights Library Bill of Rights May 10, 2023

The American Library Association affirms that all libraries are forums for

information and ideas, and that the following basic policies should guide

their services.

I. Books and other library resources should be provided for the

interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the

community the library serves. Materials should not be

excluded because of the origin, background, or views of

those contributing to their creation. Materials should not contain sexually explicit material or po*******hy. Any material accessible to minors should be age appropriate.

II. Libraries should provide materials and information

presenting all points of view on current and historical issues.

Materials should not be proscribed or removed because of

partisan or doctrinal disapproval; except material which is sexually explicit or pornographic will not be made available in our town’s library.

III. Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of

their responsibility to provide information and

enlightenment; except where the content of that information is sexually explicit, pornographic, or age inappropriate.

IV. Libraries should cooperate with all persons and groups

concerned with resisting abridgment of free expression and

free access to ideas as long as standards of moral decency and age appropriateness are observed.

V. A person’s right to use a library should not be denied or

abridged because of origin, age, background, or views.

VI. Libraries which make exhibit spaces and meeting rooms

available to the public they serve should make such facilities

available on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or

affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use as long as groups and individuals maintain and observe standards of moral decency and age-appropriate decorum.

Do not use early ballots. Greater chance of cheating (watch the movie, 2000 Mules). Go on election day and if you received an early ballot it, vote it, go to the polling place and at least it gets put in a secure box. Let's stop election cheating.
