Many of you were surprised when Keith gave out his phone number during Meet the Candidates night—but I wasn’t. I’ve had a front-row seat to watch Keith not only as a husband and father, but as a teacher, and I wanted to take a few minutes to share what I’ve seen.
Keith is the kind of teacher who gives his phone number to every parent on Back to School Night, telling them to call if they ever have a question or if their child is struggling with homework. He always says, “The last thing I want is to hear is that your child was upset, frustrated, or crying because they didn’t understand something. Just call me—I’ll talk them through it.”
He stays after school multiple days a week—until the late bus leaves—to help students with their work. He regularly dedicates time in the evenings to call parents, not just about concerns, but to say things like, “You have a great kid, and I love teaching them,” or “I’m so glad they’re part of my class.”
Just last week, someone told us that Keith had been mentioned in a private social media group for parents in his district. A friend from that district sent me a screenshot, and I want to share it with you—to give you a glimpse into who my husband really is:
“My daughters have Mr. Tucci (the teacher), and twice since he took over the class, he has called me with positive things to say and even some advice or small suggestions to help my children become better students.
In our home, we do ‘praises and prefers,’ so I appreciate this approach immensely.
I’m not going to comment on our district as a whole. I’m simply giving praise to a tremendous educator in our schools.
Feel free to share a praise below (for others too!). And if you don’t have one, feel free to read them!”
I loved that Keith’s simple act of making a few thoughtful phone calls inspired this parent to invite others to share positive stories about educators in the district.
This is just a small glimpse into Keith’s everyday life. I believe that a vote for Keith on Tuesday is a vote for the positivity, dedication, and experience we need to move Pawling forward.
Please come out to the Elementary School on Tuesday, May 20th, and vote for an expierenced and caring educator who will listen, learn, and lead in the years to come.
