The weekend is finally here, and our Military Care Package Drive kicks off at 10:00 AM! We’ll be at the Paris Tn, Eiffel Tower Park (1020 Maurice Fields Dr, Paris, TN 38242)

Today is an opportunity to give back to the brave men and women who have given so much in service to our country. Let’s come together as a community, united by gratitude and respect for those who stand watch over our freedoms.

Whether you’re donating supplies, lending a helping hand, or simply showing your support, every contribution makes a difference. Let’s share a little of that Southern hospitality and remind our service members that their sacrifices are appreciated and remembered.

Remember it’s not about politics it’s about America!We look forward to seeing everyone there. Together, let’s make a meaningful impact and show our heroes just how much they mean to us.

Statement From The Henry County Democratic Party

Yesterday a gunman, Nasire Best, opened fire outside the White House. The shooting resulted in the injury of a bystander and the death of Best. Our thoughts and prayers are with this bystander, President Trump and all involved in the horrific event.

Nasire Best had previously been arrested in July of 2025 for accessing a restricted area on the White House grounds, ignoring signs and commands to stop. According to an affidavit Mr. Best was already known to Secret Service personnel “for walking around the White House complex inquiring how to gain access at various entry posts.” This mirrors similar violence seen by many domestically.

We once again condemn the use of gun violence & political violence! Far too many of our American lives are lost in situations such as this one. Gun violence has once again proven that any American from average citizen to the president can experience this kind of tragedy. We live in hard times and hard times create violent individuals. This cannot be the fate of America!

As we see President Trump using this example to garner support for his White House Ballroom we must ask the big question… WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US? Instead of a ballroom to protect a select few, let’s focus on legislation that protects the 2nd Amendment, prevents gun violence, reform criminals early, and programs that focus on improving the quality of life to prevent violence in the first place. Our government solutions should be people driven and focused. We need more ACTION and less reaction!

A tragedy created by bad policy and planning. Our agriculture communites are hurting as well as our cities. Is this what prosperity looks like in 2026? When our traditions and our people suffer and have to struggle to survive. We need REAL CHANGE. We need to elect leadership that will ensure our farmers prosper and our economies grow. We must elect leaders that will work for more than just a photo op. We here at the Henry County Democratic Party are dedicated to supporting leadership that will represent these values. Elect Democrats to put Tennessee first!

After extensive conversations and careful consideration, we have made the decision to pause the Tennessee Soybean Festival this year. Given the current financial challenges facing our city, along with the budget, manpower, and time required to responsibly plan an event of this scale, the committee unanimously agreed this is the most responsible path forward at this time.

We understand this news will be disappointing to many, while others may feel this is the right decision for our community.

We want to sincerely thank the Tennessee Soybean Festival committee members and volunteers who dedicate countless unpaid hours each year to make this event possible. Their passion, commitment, and love for this community have never gone unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for their service and leadership through this decision.

We remain committed to moving our community forward responsibly and sustainably, and we appreciate the community's continued support and grace as we do so together.
