Sheriffs Round-up. Week ending 06-07-2026.

Family Violence and Endangering a Child Arrest.

On 06-01-2026, Deputies K. Cook and B. Hay arrested Brett Ray (30) on five Anderson County warrants charging him with Assault Family Violence, Impeding Breath/Circulation, Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance, and three counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child. The warrants issued by Judge Tammy Lightfoot were based on an assault complaint reported on 05-21-2026.

Injury to a Child Arrest.

On 06-02-2026, Deputy J. Amador responded to a complaint regarding two juveniles (13-year-old female and 12-year-old male) who reported being assaulted by a 34-year-old female family member. Deputy Amador observed visible injuries on the juveniles. The juveniles reported being struck with a flexible metal washing machine hose. The juveniles were treated for their injuries at the Palestine Regional Medical Center ER. The adult female was arrested and booked into the Anderson County Jail on two counts of Injury to a Child. (Names omitted to protect the identity of the juveniles.)

Warrant Arrest.

On 06-04-2026, Deputy M. Passons arrested Ethan Ayala (24) on an Anderson County warrant charging him with Sexual Assault. Ayala was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Service.

On 06-04-2026, Deputy M. Passons executed Anderson County warrants on jail inmate Angela Davis (49) charging her with Terroristic Threats and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

Warrant Arrest.

On 06-05-2026, Deputy M. Bison arrested Randy Lee McKnight (28) on an Anderson County warrant charging him with Assault - Bodily Injury Family Violence (Bond Forfeiture). McKnight was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Assault – Family Violence Arrests.

On 06-06-2026, Deputy J. Amador responded to Turner Circle at the Coffield Unit regarding a disturbance. Deputy Amador arrested Christian Phillis (30) and charged him with Assault Bodily Injury – Family Violence, Assault – Family Violence, Assault – Bodily Injury/Impede Breath, and Violation of Bond Conditions. Phillis was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Accidental Shooting.

On 06-06-2026, Deputy J. Amador responded to an accidental shooting on ACR 2909. The male victim reported an accidental discharge of a .22 caliber gun which caused personal injury. The male victim was transported to PRMC via Care Flight.

Drug Arrest.

On 06-07-2026, Deputy Jenkins responded to a suspicious person complaint on ACR 181. Deputy Jenkins identified the person as Matthew Mitchell (41). Mitchell was found to be in possession of syringe and a plastic bag containing illicit drugs. Mitchell was charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Drug Arrest.

On 06-07-2026, Deputy Jenkins responded to a suspicious person complaint on ACR 181. Deputy Jenkins identified the person as Matthew Mitchell (41). Mitchell was found to be in possession of syringe and a plastic bag containing illicit drugs. Mitchell was charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Sheriffs Round-up. Week ending 05-31-2026.

Mental Health Transport.

On 05-25-2026, Sergeant B. Garrett completed a mental health transport on a 26-year-old male who was admitted to the Palestine Regional Medical Center West Campus for treatment.

Agency Assist.

On 05-25-2026, Deputies K. Cook and B. Hay responded to SH-19 North regarding a fatal single-vehicle crash. The deputies assisted the Bradford VFD and EMS at the scene. The crash was investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest.

On 05-27-2026, Deputies K. Cook and arrested Brandon York (41) on a warrant charging him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The warrant was issued as the result of York threatening another person with a firearm. York was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Service.

On 05-28-2026, Deputy M. Passons executed an Anderson County warrant on jail inmate Albert Monroe Demoss (57) charging him with Theft of Service.

Warrant Arrest.

On 05-29-2026, Deputy Linebaugh arrested Anyah Hall (17) on an Anderson County warrant charging her with Organized Criminal Activity. Hall was booked not the Anderson County Jail.

Mental Health Transport.

On 05-31-2026, Sergeant Garrett conducted a mental health transport of a 37-year-old male from Christus Hospital to the Palestine Regional Medical Center West Campus.

Warrant Arrest

On 05-31-2026, Deputy J. Vess arrested Crystal Chesson (36) on a Tyler County Warrant charging her with Theft of Property. Chesson was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Service.

On 05-30-2026, Deputy J. Vess executed an Anderson County warrant on jail inmate Savanna Ryan (31) charging her with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the inclement weather we are receiving in the northern part of our county. We are asking citizens to please use the 911 line for emergencies only.

We have had reports of several trees down on FM 645 at the five way and also on FM 321 from the five way to Highway 287N, making traffic impassable. We ask the public to use caution if you see first responders in the area as they are working these calls.

We have been monitoring the weather, and will update the public with any changes.

Anderson County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of Joni Williams (54) of Tennessee Colony, who was found deceased from a gunshot wound on Friday, May 29th.

A person of interest is now in custody. On Saturday, May 30th, an Arizona DPS Trooper stopped and detained Williams' ex-boyfriend, Bruce Kenton Jeffers (65), on Interstate 10 near Benson, Arizona.

Jeffers was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by District Judge Amy Thomas Ward for a bond violation on an unrelated charge. The Sheriff’s Office is working to extradite him back to Texas.

Traffic Arrest.

On 05-18-2026, Deputy J. Amador made a traffic stop on CR 2141. The driver, Kassondra Seagroves (32), was arrested for Driving While License Invalid (w/previous convictions). Seagroves was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Service.

On 05-18-2026, Deputy J. Amador executed an Anderson County warrant on jail inmate Allen Todd (30) charging him with Tampering with an Electronic Monitoring Device.

Warrant Arrest.

On 05-19-2026, Deputy Reece arrested Khaleef Wilson (27) on Anderson County warrants charging him with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Wilson was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Mental Health Incident.

On 05-19-2026, Deputy J. Vess responded to a residence in Frankston regarding a 37-year-old male who was experiencing a mental health crisis. The male was suffering from a self-inflicted sharp force injury. The male was transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center for medical and mental health treatment.

Traffic Arrest.

On 05-19-2026, Deputy J. Amador initiated a traffic stop on SH-19 in Elkhart. Deputy Amador arrested and charged the driver, Jakybreyuin Shepherd (20), with Driving While License Invalid. Shepherd was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Arrest.

On 05-19-2026, Deputy Alan Wilcher arrested James Flores Jr. on an Anderson County warrant charging him with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Flores was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Criminal Mischief Arrest.

On 05-202-2026, Deputy K. Cook and Sgt. Garrett arrested Kaden Bannister (22) on an Anderson County warrant charging him with Criminal Mischief. The warrant was based on an on-going criminal investigation conducted by Deputy Cook. Bannister was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Service.

On 5-20-2026, Deputy M. Bison executed an Anderson County warrant on jail inmate Harold Dickson (64) charging him with Criminal Trespass.

Warrant Arrest.

On 05-21-2026, Deputy Reece arrested Brandy Nicole Davis (35) on an Anderson County warrant charging her with Divert Controlled Substance for Personal Use – Probation Violation. Davis was booked into the Anderson County Jail.

Warrant Arrest.

On 5-22-2026, Deputy M Bison, executed two Anderson County warrants on jail inmate Trini Cordon (41) charging her with Harassment of a Public Servant and Assault of a Peace Officer/Judge.

Criminal Mischief Arrest.

On 5-23-26 Sergeant Billy Garrett and Deputy Amador responded to a disturbance on ACR 137. James, Peery (61) was arrested for striking a vehicle with a rock and causing damage. Peery was booked into the Anderson County Jail and charged with Criminal Mischief.

Drug Arrest.
