URGENT NOTIFICAITON

W State Highway CC between N Fremont Rd and N 25th St in Ozark is closed due to an injury motor vehicle crash. Avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

On 07-15-2026 at approximately 13:30 hours a 911 call was received by Christian County Emergency Services for a male individual that was seen possibly firing shots in the air from a handgun in the area of S. Truman Blvd near the Forest Park subdivision. 911 obtained information that the male in question ran to the west from the area at the time of the call. Nixa Police responded to the area and quickly determined that the initial incident had taken place in County jurisdiction and requested the Sheriff's Office respond. While deputies and the Sheriff responded to the area Nixa Police set up a perimeter to try and contain the person of interest in the area. Deputies and the Sheriff arrived on scene and a coordinated effort between the Nixa Police and the Sheriff’s Office began to try and locate the person of interest. During the search a Nixa Police officer observed a male subject riding south on Truman Blvd in the area and attempted to stop him and identify him. The male subject refused to stop and continued riding until jumping off the bike and fled on foot in the area of Hickory Lane. The male subject was pursued on foot by the Nixa officer. The male subject attempted to gain entry through a front door to a house in the area but was unsuccessful and fled on foot again before sight of him was lost. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 was called to the scene as well as a Nixa Police drone to attempt to track and locate the male subject. During the track it was believed that the male subject had possibly entered the back of a house through a window and was inside. The homeowners were contacted by Nixa Police and a perimeter was established around it by Nixa Police and Sheriff’s deputies. During the incident it was learned from the homeowner that his juvenile male son was inside as well as his adult daughter. Contact was made with the son and daughter and they were able to exit the home safely. A short time later the male subject who had fled from police exited the front door and was not compliant with commands from law enforcement. At this time less lethal mu*****ns were used to gain compliance and the subject was taken into custody. After he was taken into custody it was learned that he was an illegal alien that had previously had law enforcement contact and a federal judge had issued a detainer and deportation order for him. The subject was identified as Edwin Ramon Zelaya-Raudales age 20 from Honduras. Zelaya-Raudales was taken to the Christian County Jail where he was processed by a Christian County ICE task force deputy and held awaiting transfer to ICE for deportation. This is just another example of coordinated law enforcement efforts in the county to take illegal criminal aliens off the streets and keep our community safe.

Christian County Emergency Services (CCES) is requesting bids from qualified radio service providers to furnish maintenance, support, and preventative services for the organization’s Motorola VHF MOTOTRBO trunked radio system, associated VHF analog paging infrastructure, and related CCES subscriber and dispatch equipment. The selected vendor will provide annual preventative maintenance, technical support, onsite response, vegetation control at tower sites, and repair services consistent with Motorola standards and industry best practices.

We are now accepting applications for the positions of Public Safety Telecommunicator (9-1-1 Dispatcher) and Public Safety Telecommunications Supervisor (Shift Supervisor).

Starting pay with NO experience is $19.67/hr after training ($18.54 during with increases based on progression) for Telecommunicators.

Supervisory positions start at $21.49/hr for applicants with previous public safety and supervisory experience.
