What people say about breastfeeding...

"I have breastfed twice, and each time was completely different. The first time, breastfeeding was tough, painful, and frustrating because I didn't have enough milk. This time I prepared myself much better by reading a few books about breastfeeding and talking to other mothers who have successfully breastfed. This made a huge difference. This time I could really enjoy breastfeeding."

How a baby is born has a big impact on how easy, or difficult, it can be to get breastfeeding started. Babies whose births were more complicated or difficult tend to take a bit longer to get going with breastfeeding, but they do get there.

📢 Meet Our New Leader! 🌟

We're thrilled to welcome Harley to La Leche League Alliance!

Join us in celebrating Harley's commitment to empowering families and creating a warm, inclusive community.

"I want to spread this wonderful, inclusive community with others. I've had my fair share of moments where breastfeeding made me feel isolated. At LLL, I learned that I am never alone, and that my family and my vastly different breastfeeding journeys (one exclusively nursing and one exclusively pumping) are always welcome here.

Fun Fact: Every trip my family goes on, dating all the way back to the start of my family in 2016 when I got married, has centered around wildlife. Every out-of-town trip includes a stop at nature parks, zoos, and aquariums."

These ideas have been shown to help prevent crying and mellow unsettled babies:

- Respond quickly to signals that your baby wants to nurse. Try to do this before they get worked up.

- Keep them in contact with your body. A sling or soft carrier frees your hands.

- Try rhyming movement. Walk, rock, sway, or dance with your baby.

- Try a change of scenery. Going outdoors or into a quiet, dark room.

- Share the load. It’s hard to calm a crying baby if you’re tense yourself. A different pair of familiar arms might help.

📢 Meet Our New Leader! 🌟

We're thrilled to welcome Anna to La Leche League Alliance!

Join us in celebrating Anna's commitment to empowering families and creating a warm, inclusive community.

I always knew I wanted to breastfeed, having grown up attending LLL meetings with my mother. Going through my own birth and breastfeeding journey taught me the amazing things my body is capable of; sustaining and nurturing a human life is an experience like no other. I am continuously inspired to empower others to have a positive experience in their own way.

Fun Fact: I collect fun facts about animals, especially those related to lactation.
