We are aware and understand the frustration many residents are feeling about road conditions on our county roads — especially with the recent wet weather.

We recognize that wet conditions make caliche roads slick, and are monitoring and maintaining them as weather allows.
Safety is important to us, and adjustments will continue to be made where possible.

What is happening and what comes next:
Road projects are completed in stages — The first stage is ripping and rebuilding the base. The final stage is paving.

With our limited Road & Bridge budget, we have been preparing multiple roads at once while crews, equipment, and budget is available.
This allows us to stretch our taxpayer dollars further and ultimately pave more roads, not fewer.

Several roads were rebuilt and prepared this year and are already scheduled for paving in the next budget cycle.
These roads were not abandoned — they are prepared for the final maintenance and then paving which can only happen next year.

Waiting to prepare each road one at a time would increase costs and delay future paving projects.
This approach allows us to reduce repeated equipment mobilization, manage rising material costs, and plan responsibly for the long term.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve county roads in a way that is fair, fiscally responsible, and sustainable for the future

🚨Attention🚨
Due to the landfill charging us $34 per mattress, we will NO LONGER be accepting them.

I’ve received several concerns about how road work is being allocated within my precinct.

Below are four charts that provide a detailed overview:
1. Total Road Distribution – Percentage of total road miles in each area (187 miles total)
2. Paved and Caliche Construction – Major road projects completed (both paved and caliche combined)
3. Caliche Road Construction – Major projects on caliche roads
4. Paved Road Construction – Major projects on paved roads

Note: These charts reflect major construction only and do not include patching or minor maintenance.

When comparing the Total Road Distribution with the Paved and Caliche Construction charts, you’ll see that work has been distributed proportionally across all areas.

Thank you for your continued interest in our infrastructure progress. Transparency and balanced improvement remain top priorities for our precinct.

Edging on CR 357 before and after.

Sometimes the width of the road is deceiving without a center stripe, but remaining on the pavement will improve the longevity of the edges (for completed or wider roads).
