The Orange City Council met on June 15 to address development, personnel, and administrative matters.
Council approved the minutes of the June 1 meeting and held public hearings on development projects and property improvements. Following the hearings, Council approved the transfer of a City-owned parcel near the Northwestern College development site while retaining a utility easement and approved the vacation of three unused easements in the Puddle Jumper Trail area.
Council approved salaries for City employees for the 2026–2027 fiscal year, including a cost-of-living adjustment consistent with the City's collective bargaining agreement.
Additional actions included the renewal of retail to***co permits for nine local businesses and approval of a Special Class C Retail Alcohol License for Gezellig. Council also discussed the City's Hotel/Motel Tax program, which supports community betterment projects and tourism-related initiatives.
Council approved the hiring of Carter Aalbers as the new Parks & Recreation Assistant. Aalbers recently graduated from Northwestern College with a degree in Sports Management and will join the Parks & Recreation Department following the departure of Jaaron Paugh.
