FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—August 10, 2026—A Message From the Desk of Commissioner Dr. Sherelean Bass:

To the great City of Opa-Locka, it's been a privilege to serve you on the Opa-Locka Commission. We've made great progress as a city, but I believe the best is still yet to come!

It’s official! I am honored to officially announce my candidacy for the Opa-Locka City Commission, ready to serve, lead and work for the continued progress of our great city. As a lifelong public servant, wife, mother, grandmother, faith leader and 35 year resident of Opa-Locka, I care about the well-being and safety of our community.

Again, with your help, I am humbly asking for an opportunity to continue the great work, consistent progress and proven results we've been able to achieve together.

Although we have accomplished a great deal in such a short time, there is still so much more we can bring to this city together.

When you vote for me, you elect a full-time commissioner with experience, determination and heart felt desire that serves YOU, the people.

Happy Birthday to me! 🎉🙌🏽

Today, I thank God for the gift of another year of life.

It is an honor to serve the residents of Opa-locka and I don’t take the trust you’ve placed in me for granted. Thank you for allowing me to continue working on behalf of our community. Your support, encouragement and love inspire me every day.

As I celebrate another year, I look forward to continuing to serve with integrity, compassion and dedication. Here’s to new opportunities, greater purpose and an even brighter future for our city.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with birthday wishes. Your kindness means more than you know. May God continue to bless us all.
