The Omaha Sister Cities Association was organized in 1965 by a group of prominent Omaha Businessmen, lead by Max Miller and Donald K. Their effort was supported by Mayors James Dworak and Alexander Sorensen. The OSCA Mission is to involve individuals and organized groups at all levels of society in citizen diplomacy, with the hope that personal relationships, fostered through city, county, and state affiliations will lessen the chance of future world conflicts. OSCA is an all-volunteer, 250 member, not-for-profit organization, affiliated with the Office of the Mayor. Through its 44-year history, the organization has grown from one sister city relationship to five. Omaha's sister cities include: Shizuoka, Japan; Braunschweig, Germany; Siauliai, Lithuania; Naas, Ireland; and Xalapa, Mexico; and Yantai, China!

Mark your calendars for the Omaha Santa Lucia festival June 4-7, 2026!

Did you know that descendants from our sister city of Carlentini modeled the festival in Omaha after their hometown festival? Carlentini’s is just a bit older however, celebrating 405 years this year!

Our recent delegation trip to Isigny-Omaha Intercom and across Northern France was filled with friendship, culture, history, and unforgettable memories.

From our meaningful time with our friends in Isigny-Omaha Intercom to exploring Caen, St. Malo, Paris, and Strasbourg, every stop brought our travelers closer together.

The group enjoyed unforgettable experiences at Mont St. Michel, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Musée d'Orsay, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, the streets of Montmartre, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and many other places. Here is a lovely video from our travel guide of all the fun we had! Alliance Française Omaha

Standing on Omaha Beach reminds us that history is never far away.

During Omaha Sister Cities’ recent delegation trip to France, travelers joined local officials and friends from Isigny-Omaha Intercom for a special day of remembrance and connection. After a luncheon of local specialties, the delegation visited Omaha Beach and participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the American Cemetery honoring those who sacrificed during World War II.

One especially moving story shared during the visit was that of two brothers now buried together at the cemetery after decades apart. In June 2018, 74 years after their death, twin Nebraska Navy sailors Julius and Ludwig Pieper were buried together at the Normandy American Cemetery in France. The 19-year-old radiomen died on June 19, 1944, when their landing ship struck a mine, and were reunited after a Nebraska teen's research helped identify Julius’s remains.

We are grateful for the friendships, shared history, and continued partnership between Omaha and Isigny-Omaha Intercom. Alliance Française Omaha
