Omaha, we hope you’re enjoying the cooler fall weather as it rolls in!

As you gather and celebrate with family and friends, please remember to be considerate of your neighbors. Keep music and noise at a reasonable level, especially late at night, and help ensure gatherings remain respectful and under control.

Excessive noise, disorderly conduct, and other violations may result in a law enforcement response when applicable under city ordinance or state law.

A little consideration goes a long way in keeping our neighborhoods enjoyable for everyone.

This week is National Co-Responder Week!

OPD is incredibly lucky to have such wonderful co-responders! If you hear a "Frank Unit" requested on the police radio, this is that team! This team is composed of licensed mental health professionals and social workers. They regularly go above and beyond to help individuals in our community!

The co-responders' primary responsibility is to respond on scene with a law enforcement officer on calls when behavioral health is identified as a possible contributing factor. Additionally, co-responders conduct outreach and follow-up calls to individuals who had police contact as a result of a behavioral health crisis, with the intention of getting the individual the help they need.

The co-responders often work with Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained officers in providing community-based interventions as well as follow-up and referrals.

OPD's co-responders are proud members of the International Co-Responder Alliance. Together, they all work to improve behavioral and mental health outcomes for our communities.

25 years ago today, our nation changed forever. On this solemn anniversary of September 11, the City of Omaha remembers the innocent lives lost, the families whose lives were altered in an instant, and the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger.

Today, we ask all Omahans to pause, reflect, and honor the resilience and unity that pulled our country through one of its darkest hours. Please take a moment today to thank our local police officers, firefighters, and paramedics who selflessly protect and serve our community every day.

May we continue to carry that spirit of unity forward and never forget.

Reporting directly to the Mayor, this executive will oversee:

▪️ Street maintenance, parking and mobility
▪️ Wastewater treatment, stormwater and flood control
▪️ Fleet and municipal facilities
▪️ Support for OSCAR, Omaha’s modern streetcar system
