Beginning May 4, 2026, this page will not be updated until certification of the November general election.
During an election year, there are certain restrictions on my communications to ensure no state resources are used for election purposes. One of these restrictions is a freeze on this page, which means this page is also unable to accept comments during this period.
Despite these restrictions being in place, if you have questions or comments about legislative issues, please feel free to continue to contact me using the link below. Thank you!

As we wrap up session, I’m proud of the work we did to make Washington more affordable and invest in the communities we love.

That includes progress on fairer tax policy, like the proposal often called the “millionaires tax.” The goal is simple: ask the very wealthiest Washingtonians to contribute a little more so we can better fund schools, health care, and the services families rely on every day.

For me, this is about balance and fairness. While working families are feeling the pressure of rising costs, we have a responsibility to make sure our tax system reflects our shared values and supports long term stability for our state.

We also advanced policies focused on housing, education, and community health, because strong communities don’t happen by accident. They happen when we make thoughtful investments and plan for the future.

🐶 Marina agrees… a strong, fair Washington is something worth working toward.

Starting May 4, this page will pause due to election year restrictions, but my office is always here to help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out using the link below.

Thank you for staying engaged and being part of this work 💙

On Dolores Huerta Day, we celebrate a legacy of courage and community. Sí se puede.

April 10th is Dolores Huerta Day here in WA! In 2019, we passed legislation to designate the day and honor the legacy of this incredible civil rights activist, organizer, and labor leader.

Dolores Huerta, a mother and teacher, began her fight aiming to improve the living conditions of her students - many of whom were the children of farmworkers. She went on to co-found what would eventually become the United Farm Workers union, expanding her fight to address working conditions for farmworkers and to advocate for women's equality. She is an inspiring American icon whose strength, leadership, and legacy will be honored in Washington state for years to come!

Equal Pay Day is a reminder that women still have to work longer to earn what men earned last year.

That’s not fairness, and it’s not good enough. I’m proud Washington has taken steps to strengthen pay equity protections through SHB 1905, and I’ll keep fighting for workplaces where everyone is valued and paid fairly.

It's a legislator rite of passage to get gaveled.

Black History Month marks 100 years since Dr. Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week — a reminder that Black history has always been American history, even when it’s been ignored or erased. A century later, we’ve made progress, but we still haven’t moved far enough — and as a white legislator, I know it’s on me to listen, learn, and show up with action.

That’s why I’m proud to support work like the Youth Justice Act and policies that make our systems fairer, safer, and more accountable. And I’ll keep fighting for real representation in every room where decisions are made — because representation matters, and everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in leadership.
