This is a great reminder from Lacey Fire District Three. Look for life jackets at public-access swimming areas throughout Thurston County and make water safety a priority! Be safe this Summer!

Wildfire season is right around the corner, and now is the time to start cleaning up around your home and property.

South Thurston Fire & EMS, in partnership with DNR and the Thurston Conservation District, will be hosting Dumpster Days on June 6th and 7th from 11am–5pm both days.
Residents are encouraged to bring yard waste to one of our two drop-off locations:

📍 110 N Main St – Bucoda
📍 17410 Tilley Rd SW – Tenino

Creating defensible space and cleaning up dry vegetation can make a huge difference during wildfire season.

⚠️ Please note: Yard waste does NOT include noxious weeds.

Clean yards. Safer communities. Let’s get prepared together.

We love this tradition! Can't wait to see that old backboard filled with save pins!

In honor of EMS Week, we started a new tradition. Whenever someone saves a life, we tack a save pin into the wood of this ancient Medic 5 backboard displayed in the apparatus bay. Someday, there won't be any room left, and we'll have to find a new artifact!

Thanks for the idea, Lieutenant Sorem!!

Have you heard of the Olympia Fire Department’s free Community Assistance Referral & Education Services (C.A.R.E.S.) program yet? If you haven’t, that means you probably haven’t needed their assistance, and their assistance is always 100 percent confidential.

The C.A.R.E.S team says it best themselves:

“The C.A.R.E.S. team strives to support a healthier community and reduce reliance on the 911 system and local emergency departments for non-acute concerns. We accomplish this goal through advocacy, assistance, education, and mobile-integrated healthcare to the City of Olympia. We believe that everyone deserves to receive sustainable tools and practical connections to increase the livability, independence, and the overall success of our community.”

Wednesday is EMS for Children Day

EMS for Children Day is a great chance to highlight how caring for kids in emergency situations is a little different. Our providers go through specialized training for pediatrics so they can give the best care possible when it’s needed most. You’ll also see them out in the community, having fun at events and teaching kids important safety tips. It’s so important for children to learn how to stay safe, know how to call 911, and even learn CPR! And who better to give them that knowledge than the heroes who rush in when they call 911?

🚨Improving outcomes, together!

Thurston County's EMS System is made up of 12 fire agencies and 3 private ambulance companies. Thanks to our tiered response, providers from different agencies might arrive at your emergency and team up to provide the best care possible.
We'd love to give a big shout-out and thank you to every agency in Thurston County for their dedication and hard work!

Happy EMS Week!
