"Good Morning, we continue to work with DEC to make sure adequate measures are in place to ensure adequate water clarity downstream of construction. To summarize these measures:
The Regulating District fully closed water control gates, and partially lifted a flash board on the opposite side of the dam to convey water as far away from the construction as possible.
The contractor added a third turbidity curtain.
The contractor implemented a “settling pond” with sandbags below the coffer dam/ gates area to reclaim any turbid water and divert it to the upstream containment area.
We’ve increased monitoring by the contractor, Arcadis, and Regulatimg District personnel so that we can immediately suspend work if the issue reoccurs.
As discussed, we believe coffer cell filling will be concluded by tomorrow but our plan is to continue the alternate release - through the spillway flash board gap on the opposite side rather than through the gates through early next week. We believe this is the best way to ensure downstream water quality during this phase.
