Tuesday Evening Update (06/09):

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for eastern North Dakota and parts of northwest and west central Minnesota this evening through 4 AM Wednesday morning. The primary threat with a line of thunderstorms moving through the region will be the potential for 60 to 80 mph winds, with hail to the size of Ping Pong Balls. However, this is the type of pattern where a few brief quick developing tornadoes could occur as the line moves through the region.

A watch means the conditions support the development of severe thunderstorms. Start to prepare and monitor for the issuance of warnings!

Be prepared for any power outages, prepare for shelter if needed, always have a way to receive weather alerts

There is a risk for severe storms Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning within portions of eastern North Dakota into northwest and west-central Minnesota. A squall line is expected to move quickly east/northeast thru the area with severe wind gusts 60 to 75 mph or higher possible. Large hail to golf balls and a tornado is also possible mainly as the line is moving thru eastern North Dakota. With this event largely occurring overnight, make sure to have a way to be alerted if a warning is issued for your area, as well as have multiple ways to receive warnings. Also, plan now and know where to go should a warning be issued for your area

And that’s a wrap on the live burn! Glad the fire 1 members got to wrap up their training, and one less thing out of the way for members that are still currently going through the class. The burn went very well, wind and weather were in our favor. Thanks to Oklee Volunteer Ambulance Service , State Highway patrol, RLCSO for the traffic control, and on stand by. Oklee, McIntosh, and Plummer Fire supplied the trucks for water supply. Members participating in the burn were from Oklee, Plummer, McIntosh, Fosston, Newfolden, Crookston. Moorhead State always supplies well known, knowledgeable instructors to ensure a safe, proper training.
