💙We have exciting news as South was invited to host other educator visits from Florida as an AVID Showcase School starting in the 2026-27 school year!🌟
🦅We just wrapped up our 4th year as a Certifified AVID School Site! Each year, we send a team of 3-4 educators from our South Team to learn and grow within the AVID Summer Institute Experience!
🦅AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Through this program, students focus on interests in careers, organizational and study skills/techniques, and teachers implement strategies to support these endeavors.

💙Congratulations to one of our very own Eagles, Juliet Long(First student interviewed), who was recognized with four other students from the district for their work in the Chip in Florida Challenge through UF!
⚡️These students demonstrated exceptional promise and creativity through student-designed solutions that applied semiconductor concepts to real-world challenges. Students developed innovative ideas including the Hotshot 6000, an affordable heat-based tool, DCH Boots designed to support mobility for children with disabilities, Press-In-Chill, a device to help relieve stress, and the All-Seeing Shirt, created to support individuals who are visually impaired.
⚡️Their work reflected strong imagination, empathy, and early engineering thinking, highlighting the power of introducing semiconductor concepts at the elementary level.

🚗📽🎫Our 3rd Grade Team planned the most creative and fun End of Year PBIS event for their students to earn for positive behavior! Students created their own cars for a Drive-In Style movie viewing event complete with popcorn, a soda and candy treats!🍬

💙Teams from each class in every grade level competed in their event to see whose Science Investigation practice and results coul win and had a Blast doing so!

🎓💙🎉We showed our 5th Grade Eagles All the Love this week by celebrating all their hard work and accomplishments this year! They also had their "Turning of the Tassel."
💙We will miss them so, but are so grateful for the blessing of having them and their families with us in The Nest at South! Now we get to watch them SOAR as they move on to their next adventure!!🦅
