Washington Judicial Primaries Work Differently

Judicial offices in Washington are nonpartisan, but primary voters can have a significant role in shaping what appears on the November ballot.

When one or two candidates file for a judicial position, the race generally proceeds directly to the general election. When three or more candidates file, the race appears on the primary ballot. If one candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, only that candidate’s name is printed on the November ballot. If no candidate receives a majority, the top two vote-getters advance.

Please take time to review every judicial race on your ballot.
