Alameda County has delivered social services since the 1930s, but 1975 marked a defining moment. With a unanimous vote, the Board of Supervisors created the Alameda County Social Services Agency (ACSSA), unifying essential programs under one organization and expanding our ability to serve, respond, and uplift our community. Today, we are proud to unveil our new brand identity and logo, a look that

Navigating the Bus: Learn how to get on and off safely and get exactly where you need to go.

Accessibility Features: Explore ramps, priority seating, mobility device securement areas, and more.

Paying Your Fare: Get familiar with your fare payment options and how to use a Clipper card.

Building Confidence: Practice boarding and using bus features in a comfortable, relaxed environment.

Preparedness Starts at Home

We can’t always predict what’s coming, but we can take simple steps to prepare. Emergencies don’t wait for the “right time,” but having a plan helps us feel more grounded when things get uncertain.

This week, take a moment to:

Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert will host a special memorial ceremony on Friday, September 11, bringing together community members, first responders, military personnel, veterans and local leaders to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call to serve, and reflect on the strength and unity our nation demonstrated in the aftermath of that tragic day.

The ceremony will feature remarks from Alameda County Supervisor and Board President David Haubert, Alameda County Fire Chief Willie McDonald, and additional community and public safety leaders. The ceremony will also feature moving remarks from speakers who were personally impacted by the events of September 11, 2001, offering personal reflections on loss, service, resilience and the strength of communities that came together in the days and years that followed.

Their stories will help ensure that the lives and sacrifices of that day are remembered by future generations.

Our VITA volunteers include county employees, students, retirees, and community members who generously share their skills and time to support our tax filers.

They trained. They certified. And they sat with families during one of the most stressful times of the year, offering reassurance, guidance, and patience when it mattered most.

Their commitment strengthens our community and helps ensure thousands of residents receive the tax credits and refunds they depend on.

From Oakland to Hayward, ACSSA VITA volunteers showed up at three sites for thousands of families – and every service is free and confidential.
