COMUNICADO A LA POBLACIÓN / PUBLIC NOTICE

The Municipality of Santos Guardiola invites all residents to welcome the census enumerators of the 18th National Population Census and 7th Housing Census, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The enumerators will visit occupied, unoccupied, and temporary-use homes throughout the municipality.

The census will include all persons who normally live and eat in the household, including residents who are temporarily absent, as well as persons who have lived in the area for less than six months and intend to establish residence there, regardless of nationality.

Your participation is important. Please welcome the census enumerators and provide the requested information

In our Plaza de las Cinco Banderas, the flags of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica wave in the same breeze: a living symbol of a shared origin, deep roots, and a fraternal embrace that transcends any border.

Throughout this month of September, we proudly commemorate the historic milestone of September 15, 1821, when five sister nations set out together on the path toward freedom.

From Santos Guardiola, in the beautiful Bay Islands, we begin these celebrations by paying tribute to the Patria Catracha and reaffirm our identity with Central America:

En nuestra Plaza de las Cinco Banderas, los pabellones de Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua y Costa Rica ondean al mismo viento: símbolo vivo de un origen compartido, raíces profundas y un abrazo fraterno que desafía cualquier frontera.

Durante todo este mes de septiembre, conmemoramos con orgullo la gesta histórica del 15 de septiembre de 1821, el hito en el que cinco naciones hermanas emprendieron juntas el camino hacia la libertad.

El día de hoy, con la presencia del señor vicealcalde Noel Ogaldez, los regidores municipales, la Policía Nacional, Policía Municipal, Cuerpo de Bomberos, las Fuerzas Navales y la directora departamental de Educación de Islas de la Bahía, y la directora municipal de educación del Municipio se llevó a cabo la solemne izada de nuestra Bandera Nacional de Honduras, dando inicio a este hermoso mes patrio.

El alcalde Sterling Lucas continúa gestionando acciones importantes para fortalecer la atención de emergencias en el municipio.

Tras la reunión sostenida con el Presidente de la República, Nasry Asfura, y el Presidente del Congreso Nacional, Tomás Zambrano, Sterling Lucas avanzó en la gestión de este importante proyecto.

El alcalde Sterling Lucas está donando el terreno donde se construirá una nueva estación de Bomberos, además de contemplarse la construcción de un pozo, fortaleciendo así la capacidad de respuesta ante emergencias y beneficiando a toda la población de Santos Guardiola. 🇭🇳🚒

Asimismo, sostuvo una reunión con el Comandante General, General Marco Antonio Ártica, y el Inspector General, Coronel Félix Castillo, para dar seguimiento a la construcción de la nueva estación de Bomberos.

Following a meeting with the President of the Republic, Nasry Asfura, and the President of the National Congress, Tomás Zambrano, Mayor Sterling Lucas made further progress in advancing this important project.

Mayor Sterling Lucas is donating the land where a new Fire Station will be constructed. The project will also include the construction of a well, further strengthening the municipality’s capacity to respond to emergencies and benefiting the entire population of Santos Guardiola. 🇭🇳🚒

The Mayor also held a meeting with the General Commander, General Marco Antonio Ártica, and the Inspector General, Colonel Félix Castillo, to follow up on the construction of the new Fire Station.

En su gira de trabajo por la capital de la República, el alcalde Sterling Lucas continúa tocando puertas y gestionando importantes proyectos para nuestro municipio.

Durante su agenda, sostuvo importantes reuniones con el Presidente de la República, Nasry Asfura, el Ministro de Infraestructura, la Vicepresidenta del Congreso Nacional, Dra. POLITILLY BIGHT CELEBRATES AFRO ENGLISH HERITAGE DAY

Today, August 28, 2026, the community of Politilly Bight came together to celebrate its Afro English Heritage Day with singing, dancing, traditional food, games, and plenty of community spirit.

The children, who were at the heart of the celebration, participated through dancing, singing, and recitations, giving the day an even deeper meaning. Their participation reminds us that preserving our heritage, culture, and traditions is about passing them down to the next generation.

Along with traditional activities such as the Plait Pole and Maypole, our rich Bay Islands gastronomy was proudly on display, featuring coconut dinner, boiled crab, conch dinner, stewed oxtail, flour blow, and many other delicious dishes that form part of our unique culinary heritage.

Keeping our traditions and culture alive is more than celebrating the past, it is about protecting who we are and ensuring that our heritage continues to live on in the generations to come.

Gestiones que impulsan el desarrollo de Santo Guardiola 🇭🇳

El día de ayer, el alcalde Sterling Lucas sostuvo una importante reunión con el presidente de la República, Nasry Asfura, donde abordaron temas prioritarios relacionados con la infraestructura y los proyectos que contribuirán al desarrollo de nuestro municipio de Santos Guardiola.

Durante el encuentro, el alcalde Sterling Lucas también consultó sobre la fecha de entrega de la maquinaria destinada a nuestra Alcaldía Municipal, equipo que será fundamental para continuar trabajando en el mejoramiento de las carreteras y la infraestructura de nuestras comunidades.

Asimismo, tuvo la oportunidad de reunirse con el ministro de Infraestructura, a quien presentó las principales necesidades de nuestro municipio y solicitó su apoyo para impulsar proyectos de mejoramiento vial, incluyendo carreteras que requieren concreto hidráulico.

Seguimos gestionando y trabajando incansablemente por mejores caminos, mejores proyectos y mayores oportunidades para todos los habitantes de Santos Guardiola.

Efforts That Drive the Development of Santos Guardiola 🇭🇳

Yesterday, Mayor Sterling Lucas held an important meeting with the President of the Republic, Nasry Asfura, where they discussed key priorities related to infrastructure and projects that will contribute to the continued development of our municipality of Santos Guardiola.

During the meeting, Mayor Sterling Lucas also inquired about the delivery date of the heavy machinery designated for our Municipal Government. This equipment will be essential in continuing our work to improve roads and infrastructure throughout our communities.

The Mayor also had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Infrastructure, where he presented the main needs of our municipality and requested support for road improvement projects, including roads that require hydraulic concrete paving.

We continue to manage, advocate, and work tirelessly for better roads, better projects, and greater opportunities for all the residents of Santos Guardiola.
