🌻🌼🌷 The Village of North Aurora’s Beautification Committee wants your yard to look beautiful! They are organizing the first ever Beautiful Yard Program where you may be eligible to receive up to $250 for beautification efforts for your home. Please see all program information below.

🌼RULES & OVERVIEW

• Must be a North Aurora resident.
• Must not have any open code violations.
• Beautification efforts are limited to front yard improvements.
• Efforts must be permanent or semi-permanent installations.
• Examples could include: bushes and trees, perennial flowers/plants, planter pots, stone pavers, sod, landscaping tools, etc.
• Examples that would not be included: annual flowers, mulch, non-landscape items, vegetable/garden plants, w**d killer, etc.
• All applicants must submit a detailed plan explaining what they would use the program funds for. Funds must be used in calendar year 2026.
• Selected applicants will receive their program funds in a gift card to one of the following businesses of choice: Home Depot, Menard’s, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware, Spring Bluff Nursery, or Schafer’s Greenhouse.
• Selected applicants will be required to provide receipts of purchases. Funds must be used solely towards the beautification efforts listed in their plan.
• Selected applicants will provide photos showing the before and after of their beautification efforts. Photos may be posted publicly.

Applications can be submitted at the link below. Applications are due by Thursday, July 9. The Beautification Committee will review applications and applicants will be contacted in late July with their application status.

Who is ready to have a blast at the Village of North Aurora’s annual Independence Day Celebration on July 3, 2026? The event takes place at North Aurora Riverfront Park and festivities start at 5:00pm!

🍔 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 & 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬: We’ll have some delicious food options onsite including Serna's Grill Restaurant - Monster Gyros (burgers, monster fries and gyros), Chkn Box (chicken wings), Royal Blue BBQ (barbecue and Cajun) and Kona Ice (shaved ice) available for purchase. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and their own drinks, which includes alcohol, for a fun picnic vibe. 🚨No grills are allowed.

👜𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩-𝐎𝐟𝐟: We know folks like to drop things off in the park prior to the event (please note: the Village is not responsible for lost or stolen items), and the Village Hall back parking lot will be available until 𝟒:𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩-𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬 (NO PARKING) to unload supplies (no grills!). No vehicles are allowed in the back parking lot after 4:30 pm for the safety of all. Space may only be saved using chairs and picnic blankets. 🚨𝐍𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐬, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬, 𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞, 𝐞𝐭𝐜. 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬. Let’s make sure everyone has a great spot to enjoy the event!

🎶𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜: From 6:00pm - 9:00pm The Simple Remedy (you may have seen them at last year’s Oktoberfest!) will be taking to the stage! Intertwining the rich traditions of Americana, The Simple Remedy crafts a distinctive sound that blends Country, Folk, Rock, Blues and Soul, anchored by authentic storytelling and emotional depth.

🚗𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: Parking is available at North Island Park and various Village lots near State Street. 🚨NO PARKING ALLOWED AT THE ROUTE 31 / STATE STREET LOT. This area will be for viewing with pedestrian access only. Handicap parking will be available at the front Village Hall lot and noted other lots. Please find the parking lot map as well as additional approved parking locations on the Village website.

🎆𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬: And last but not least, the fireworks! The fireworks will launch at approximately 9:30 pm!

Ruf…ruf!!

The Village of North Aurora is going to the dogs (and cats and all the pets!) with Dog Days of Summer taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 10am - 12pm at North Aurora Riverfront Park (25 East State Street)! 🐾🐶

Join us for a pet parade, fun contests with drool-worthy prizes (for the pups!), the chance to find your next furry family member as we work with local rescue groups to bring available dogs on site, our pet-themed handmade vendor market and local pet-themed booths in our sponsorship area!

Join the Village, Shrek, Donkey and Fiona for a fun evening on Friday, June 26, 2026 to watch Dreamworks’ Shrek at this year’s Movie in the Park!

Movie in the Park will take place at Randall Highlands Park (1241 Ritter Street) and the movie will start at ~8:30pm. Polish Shack will be on site starting at 6pm with delicious dinner options and Koconuts Shave Ice will selling a sweet treat starting around 7pm! Plus as always the Village will have candy available to snack on at our table! We'll also have a raffle for attendees to win a $25 gift card to Tinseltown (320 South Lincolnway, courtesy of Tinseltown!) so you can watch even more movies after our event ends! 🥳

🚧Construction Project Updates: May 29, 2026

🛣️2026 Road Improvement Project

This week the contractor continued with concrete replacements on streets south of Bauer (McDuffee, Plante, Berman). The contractor removed all the existing roadway pavement on the streets north of Bauer (Western, Sterkel, Kelley, Leonard, Jorstad). They have begun the aggregate base repairs and preparation for paving on these streets and will be completing the remainder of this work on these streets early next week.

They continued the asphalt apron restoration work on the driveways that were affected by the concrete replacements north of Bauer, completing most of them. Landscape restoration has also begun in this area, please water the newly placed seed for the best chance of grass growing in.

Next week, the contractor is planning on continuing the concrete replacements on streets south of Bauer and anticipates completing the remainder of them by the end of the week. They also will be continuing with asphalt apron and landscape restorations following the concrete replacements.

On Monday, the contractor plans to begin to pave the first layer of asphalt on the streets north of Bauer. By the end of the week all the streets north of Bauer are planned to have their first layer of asphalt completed. Only minor delays are expected for getting in and out of driveways during this phase and moving lane closures on the streets.

🛣️Orchard Gateway Boulevard Intersection Improvements and Resurfacing Project

This week the contractor completed the construction layout for the new improvements.

Next week, the contractor is planning on saw cutting the concrete curb and sidewalk that is planned for removal.
