Shopping for swimsuits this summer?
Most parents choose a swimsuit based on style, fit, or their child's favorite color. But visibility is something worth considering too.
Visibility testing has found that bright neon colors—especially orange, yellow, green, and pink—are often easier to see underwater in pools, lakes, and other open water environments. In contrast, some lighter or muted colors can be much harder to spot once a swimmer goes beneath the surface.
While no swimsuit can prevent a drowning, choosing a high-visibility color may help a child be seen more quickly if an emergency occurs.
Drowning is often silent and can happen in seconds. Stay close, stay alert, and keep your eyes on your child.
