REA, alongside RCEA, VEA Staff, and other labor leaders in the valley hosted a press conference to encourage Governor Spanberger to sign the collective bargaining bill NOW. Several community members and leaders were present! We want to thank Melrose Plaza for Hosting! Special shout out to our VEA organizer specialist, Vanesha, for helping get this all put in place! The Virginia Public Sector Labor Coalition also supported these efforts!

We were also honored by the presence of several elected officials and candidates, including:

Send a letter or call Governor Spanberger!!! Collective bargaining should not be limited to any certain groups, but all!!

One of the biggest injustices of the 2020 CB bill is that it didn’t apply to state workers, removing local workers from the 2026 CB bill would continue that injustice.
We will not support a two-tiered system of rights for school employees. The state cannot abandon all those who have fought, and continue to fight, for a fair and balanced system of public sector collective bargaining.
Imagine if localities could choose not to follow workplace discrimination or minimum wage laws. No state would stand for that; so why would it be okay for them to do so with collective bargaining?
