Equipping Metro Atlanta's underserved students of color and their families to lead full lives.

A study from Northeastern University found that high school dropouts cost taxpayers $292,000 over the course of their lives. In the communities where we focus, the Board of Education in DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett states that High School graduation is
70% Caucasians, 64% African American, 55% Hispanics, and 35% ESOL. A recent study shows that students who do not read proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to leave high school without a diploma than proficient readers. So we can be most effective in decreasing the dropout rate by tutoring elementary age students and showing parents the value of education. In 2012, we partnered with Berkeley Lake Elementary to begin an education focused program, Corners Academy, which provides after school tutoring as well as a summer camp in Norcross, GA. Soon after we partnered with two other elementary schools, Hightower Elementary and Beaver Ridge Elementary. While building relationships with the parents of our students, we found that many had more than two jobs. In 2017, we started Corners Industries, a career initiative which exists to break cycles of poverty.

Meet Brielle ✨

When she first joined Corners, Brielle had a hard time adjusting to new routines, following schedules, and transitioning between activities. These changes were not always easy for her or her teacher, but with patience, guidance, and encouragement, Brielle has been making wonderful progress!

Five weeks later, we are celebrating her growth! Brielle is discovering new ways to challenge herself, build confidence, and embrace new experiences.

Today, Brielle is participating in soccer and our chorus class, exploring her interests while developing teamwork, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

One of the most exciting highlights was her participation in the Hispanic Heritage Celebration in Dunwoody, where she proudly wore a traditional Mexican outfit! Seeing her embrace this special moment reminds us that growth happens in many ways: through learning, cultural pride, new experiences, and the courage to step outside our comfort zones.

We can't wait to see how Brielle keeps growing and challenging herself! 💪🏽💙

🌟 Meet Alexa!

Alexa joined Corners Academy this year and is currently a sophomore at McClure High School. Like many students her age, she’s still exploring what her future might look like and deciding whether college is the right path for her.

Through our internship program, Alexa is discovering how she can combine her interests in social media, photography, and sports into a potential career in digital media! ⚽

Sometimes, the first step toward a career isn’t having all the answers. It’s having the opportunity to explore, ask questions, and discover what’s possible.

At Corners Outreach, we’re helping students turn their interests into possibilities and giving them the tools, connections, and confidence to take their next steps toward the future. 💙

Meet Joseph 💛

Joseph has been part of the Corners Outreach family for several summers, and this year, he joined our After School program!

He loves spending time with friends, getting help with homework, and seeing his friend, Karla, who also happens to be our Assistant Program Director! 😊

Joseph may be a little shy, but his responsibility and growth shine through. We’re so happy Corners is a place where he feels welcomed, supported, and excited to learn. 💫

⚽ Meet Amy, one of the youngest players in our U6 division!

Amy brings so much enthusiasm to every practice and game. She loves soccer so much that she often asks her mom to come watch her play, dreaming of one day playing in big stadiums!

Through our Soccer & Mentoring Program, we’re doing more than teaching soccer skills. We’re creating a space where children build confidence, discover their passions, and learn that their dreams matter. 💙

As we bring our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration to a close at Corners Outreach Academy Gwinnett, we are so happy that our students enjoyed so many meaningful moments filled with culture, pride, and connection!

From coloring flags representing Latin American countries to enjoying horchata, Mexican bread, and traditional candies, our students celebrated the beautiful cultures and traditions that make our community special! 🇲🇽🌎

At Corners, we believe that our culture is a gift, our language is a strength, and our identity is something to celebrate with confidence. Our team makes sure that every one of our students is reminded of that this month and every day of the year. 💛

❤️ Lester and Flor are proof that small steps can lead to big changes!

Through our English program, they’ve strengthened their skills, advanced to the next level, and both secured higher-paying jobs. But they’re not stopping there! They’ve returned for another semester, Flor has joined our Financial Literacy program, and they even brought friends to Industry Night so they could grow together.

When determination meets opportunity, amazing things happen. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Lester and Flor!

A huge shoutout to for hosting a snack drive for Corners Academy! 💙

Our students go through hundreds of snacks every day, helping them stay fueled, focused, and ready to learn. Thanks to partners like Mölnlycke Healthcare and their dedicated employees, we can continue creating a supportive environment where our students feel cared for and ready to succeed.

Last week, we had our Zumba class with Latino Community Fund-LCF and our moms had a blast moving their bodies 💃

They also got the chance to do some medical tests and enjoy a green smoothie 😋

Taking care of our health is an act of love and it allows us to show up the best version of ourselves! Shout out to every mom that showed up ready to be active, learn and take care of herself! ✨
