Western States Mounted Officers Association

Western States Mounted Officers Association www.wsmoa.com Events rotate from North to South each year to accommodate departments in different parts of the state.

The Western States Mounted Officers Association is a non-profit dedicated to helping LEO, SAR, volunteers and posse members with training and communications opportunities. The association strives to keep mounted units in touch with one another and to provide high quality, POST approved trainings at various locations throughout California. Basic and Advanced classes are offered 1-2 times a year, along with Instructor Development classes, Trail Trial Competitions and a General Conference.

It is with heavy heart, we share news of the passing of "Rocky" one of Anaheim Police Department mounts. Enjoy the endless pastures, Rocky.

This past Tuesday, we said goodbye to Rocky, our 25-year-old Mounted Unit horse who served with Officer Nichols in the Mounted Enforcement Unit for 13 years.

You may have met Rocky at a community event or seen him during patrol operations and large gatherings throughout Anaheim over the years. Like all of our Mounted Unit horses, Rocky was beloved by our department and the community members who met him.

Thank you for your service, Rocky.
