On Friday, March 11th, professionals from across Newport News convened at Warwick High School for the second Career Pathways Breakfast of 2016. The Annual Career Pathways Breakfast with A Professional series provides opportunities for Newport News Public Schools (NNPS) students to engage in conversations with professionals who represent careers the students may be interested in pursuing. Students prepare questions to ask professionals, and over the course of an hour the participants eat and talkāin much the same way as they would at a professional networking event. Students learn valuable information from the career professionals about educational requirements, day-to-day expectations of the position, potential earnings, as well as career readiness skills important for success in the field. There is no charge for the students or the professionals to participate. Since it began, the breakfast series has connected thousands of students from across Newport News Public Schools with hundreds of professionals from our community.
Each high school will host a breakfast on select Fridays between March 4 and April 22, 2016. For more information, contact Dr. Ann Ifekwunigwe at (757) 283-7850 x10526 or [email protected]
