I believe Coweta County can protect its character while remaining business-friendly.

I want Coweta County to be attractive to quality businesses and industries that provide good-paying jobs for our residents. This also means opportunities for our children decades from now when they enter the workforce.

That does not mean every development belongs here. We want economic development that chooses to prioritize being a good community partner and follows our established ordinances.

It means we should thoughtfully determine what types of development are appropriate, where they belong, and what protections should accompany them. We should follow the comprehensive plan to determine the appropriate location.

Economic development and responsible growth do not have to be opposing ideas. We can protect rural and residential areas while encouraging appropriate commercial and industrial development in areas designed to support it.

I also believe we should be mindful of the message Coweta sends to businesses considering investing here. We should be known as a county that has high standards, clear expectations, predictable rules, and a thoughtful development process. Our community needs to promote that we are open for businesses small and large. Georgia’s department of economic development needs to know that we are open to new development and industries; reserving the right and ability to say no to developments that do not fit.

Every quality job created here can mean less time commuting to Atlanta and more time parents can spend with their families.

If businesses and job-creating investments continue to pass over our county for opportunities elsewhere, the impact will be felt throughout our entire community—including by the next generation who will call Coweta home.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and every brave soul who ran toward danger to save others.

May we always remain grateful for the first responders, service members, volunteers, and countless Americans who served selflessly, sacrificed courageously, and gave so much on that day and in the months and years that followed.

Today, we honor their lives, their bravery, and their sacrifice.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forget.
