When First Spouses from across the country, and party lines, come together with one voice, it’s because the stakes are too high to stay silent. I was proud to join them in signing a letter demanding an end to the gun violence that is tearing families apart and stealing futures.
My heart breaks for the lives lost to senseless violence – from leaders and loved ones taken too soon, to the children in our schools who should be safe but are not. Each tragedy deepens the wound that gun violence carves into our families and our communities.
As an emergency room doctor, I have held the hands of victims, spoken to grieving parents, and seen up close the devastation left behind. I carry those stories with me every day, and they fuel my resolve to act.
That is why our administration is holding Gun Violence Listening Sessions across the state. These conversations are not about politics – they are about hearing directly from Delawareans, working together, and demanding change.
Wilmington will host one of the sessions on September 16th, and we welcome every voice.
We cannot allow this violence to define who we are. Delaware is strong, resilient, and filled with people who care deeply for one another.
We can and will stop the cycle.
