September 3rd is National Skyscraper Day! Check out this 1977 photo of mini-skyscrapers from the Queens Museum's Panorama of the City of New York as it gets updated with a miniature Citicorp Building (later renamed Citigroup Center and now known as 601 Lexington Avenue).

Originally created for the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair, the Panorama is a massive scale model covering all five boroughs. Today, it is on permanent display at the Queens Museum in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park.
