Mabel "Madea" Simmons returns with a vengeance in this raucous, heart-pounding comedy that proves there is no zoning law strong enough to contain her. After a "minor misunderstanding" with the law involving a bulldozer and a drive-thru window, Madea is sent to live under house arrest with her successful niece, Lisa (Gabrielle Union), in an ultra-exclusive, high-security gated community in Atlanta. Lisa hopes the quiet, manicured streets will keep her aunt out of trouble. She couldn't be more wrong. The tranquility is shattered the moment Madea meets her next-door neighbor, Calvin (Kevin Hart), a high-strung, obsessively controlling HOA president who treats the neighborhood bylaws like sacred scripture.
The feud begins over a simple property line dispute involving Madea's "medicinal" herb garden and Calvin’s prize-winning roses. It quickly escalates into an all-out suburban war. Calvin deploys high-tech surveillance drones and noise-canceling barriers; Madea retaliates with old-school grit, a garden hose, and her signature lack of patience. As the prank war reaches nuclear levels—culminating in a disastrous block party that involves a runaway food truck and a feral raccoon—Lisa finds herself caught in the crossfire, trying to save her reputation and her home. However, when a real external threat targets the community, stripping away the security they all rely on, Calvin and Madea are forced to declare a temporary truce. In a twist of events, the "Damn Neighbor" becomes the only ally Madea has. Stripping away the pretense of the upper class, Madea uses her street smarts and tough love to teach Calvin that a perfect lawn means nothing if your house is empty of love.
