Dare to Run is a nonprofit organization that will train women how to run for public office across 14

Dare to Run is an organizational initiative that will train college-educated women on the importance of public policy and how to run effective campaigns for public office. Over the course of three years, Dare to Run plans to open training facilities in 14 states across regions in the southeast, south and Midwest. The aim of Dare to Run is to educate 20,000 women over the course of three years, wit

h a 5% retention rate. This means that of the 20,000 women, our aim is to get at least 1,000 women to run for public office and win their campaigns. To support Dare to Run's work, please visit https://www.daretorun.org/contact-us.

As a the newest board member, I want to take a moment to say "thank you" not just from me, but from our entire current board team.

Thank you to every former board member, participant, trainer, supporter, donor, speaker, volunteer, and friend who helped build Dare to Run into what it is today.

Nine years does not happen by accident. It happens because people believed in the mission. People showed up. People gave their time, their expertise, their networks, their resources, and their encouragement. And because of that, Dare to Run has been able to create space for women to learn, grow, and step into their power.

Today, we are celebrating the work that has already been done , and looking ahead to what comes next.

As the current board, we are excited about this new chapter. We are honoring the legacy while also building for the future. That means continuing to create opportunities for women to gain the tools, confidence, and community they need to lead in every space they enter.

So today, we are asking you to celebrate with us.

Happy Women’s History Month! Today we honor NYS Attorney General Letitia James. Letitia Ann “Tish” James is an American lawyer and politician from the state of New York. She has served since 2019 as the 67th attorney general of New York (NYAG), having been first elected to the post in 2018. A member of the Democratic Party, James is the first Black person to serve as New York attorney general and is the first Black woman to hold statewide office in New York. Born and raised in Brooklyn, James graduated from Lehman College in the Bronx before obtaining her Juris Doctor degree at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She worked as a public defender, then on staff in the New York State Assembly, and later as a New York State Assistant Attorney General in the Brooklyn regional office.

James served as a member of the New York City Council from 2004 to 2013. She represented the 35th district, which includes the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, parts of Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, and Bedford–Stuyvesant. James chaired the committees on economic development and sanitation and served on several others. From 2013 to 2018, she was the New York City Public Advocate, making her the first African American woman to be elected to and hold citywide office in New York City

Dianne Emiel Feinstein was an American politician who served as a United States senator from California from 1992 until her death in 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the 38th mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988.

A San Francisco native, Feinstein graduated from Stanford University in 1955. She was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1969 and immediately became the board’s first female president upon her appointment in 1970. In 1978, during a third stint as the board’s president, the assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk drew national attention. Feinstein succeeded Moscone as mayor and became the first woman to serve in that position. During her tenure, she led the renovation of the city’s cable car system and oversaw the 1984 Democratic National Convention. Despite a recall attempt in 1983, Feinstein was a popular mayor and was named the most effective mayor in the country by City & State in 1987

Happy women’s history month! Patricia Lynn Murray is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Washington, a seat she has held since 1993. A member of the Democratic Party, she held the position of president pro tempore of the Senate from 2023 to 2025. Murray served in the Washington State Senate from 1989 to 1993. She was Washington’s first female U.S. senator and is the first woman in American history to hold the position of president pro tempore. Murray is also the youngest senator to occupy the office of president pro tempore in more than five decades
