We have an important Democratic primary election coming in NYC on June 22 (vote early June 12-20, and all are eligible to vote absentee - request your ballot ASAP and no later than June 7). This will be the first time there is ranked choice voting for municipal elections. I will be supporting Andrew Yang and voting for him in the primary as my number one choice. Here is a short summary of why:
1. I have known Andrew since 1992 (yes, he was two years ahead of me in high school) and he has always been known as a person of integrity;
2. Andrew is the change candidate. His basic income plan for NYC will help hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers without removing any existing benefits;
3. Having worked on the presidential election and now this Mayoral election as the Voter Protection Director, I am impressed with the values he bestows on his organizations and the talented and diverse people he has recruited and retained;
4. Andrew as a regular New Yorker like you or me raised more than $40 million for his presidential campaign, which brought back universal basic income into the American mindset, where UBI was a goal of Martin Luther King, Jr; it is the best way to eliminate poverty and helped get us stimulus checks that helped so many, including myself, during the pandemic (he's endorsed now by MLKIII);
5. His campaigns and book "The War on Normal People" shows he is a thinker, doer and creative problem solver. I truly believe among a group of great candidates, Andrew stands out as the best to be our next Mayor to help bring NYC back even better than before (jobs, helping small businesses, attracting tourism). He's positive and compassionate and a partial anecdote to the toxicity and divisiveness we have all seen in our politics over the last few years.
Monday June 7 is the last day to contribute $10 or more for NYC residents to have their contribution matched 8-1. Take a bet on Yang with me, and I promise you will not be disappointed with him as our mayor over the next four years. 😀
If you have any issues or questions with voting, you can let me know and I will do my best to help. Just call or text 929-356-5333.
