A good friend posted this in response to a post about the no kings protest. I thought it would be nice to see how most people who aren’t in the cult feel. Take a second and just read the truth from the eyes of decency.
Post:
Im glad everyone at the No Kings rally got to have their say safely. If this were Iran they would have been murdered by the government they were protesting against. Protesting a majority elected president doing exactly what he promised to do and calling it No Kings seems really tone deaf to me, but like I said. Im glad they could do it safely. I think it shows how great America is in the end, even if they are too blind to see the hypocrisy of the movement itself.
Response:
Yeah, I agree it’s a good thing we’re not Iran, I’m glad I also have constitutionally guaranteed rights (until?). I respect your opinion. I disagree with the premise that these protests are hypocritical; I’ll bite and dialogue respectfully:
Immigration- he claimed he is doing exactly what he said he was doing removing “hardened criminals,” right? But there have been cases where people here legally or with protected status, had their status stripped and then detained or deported with no due process. Courts later ruled against parts of those actions and he called them rogue judges because they are following their interpretation of the rule of law. That raises serious concerns about how those policies are being carried out. I agree with getting the hard criminals gone.
On affordability- do you feel like that’s actually happening are things affordable? In the past month alone, gas prices have jumped significantly. We’re being told it’s short-term pain, but with no clear plan in Iran, how long is that supposed to last? And what about $5 diesel for truckers he claims to support?
Farmers are being hurt by tariff policies, only to then be bailed out with our taxpayer money. I’m not against helping farmers but those bailouts are tied directly to policies that created the problem in the first place. That’s worth questioning.
Groceries where you are are they way down? Because they’re not here.
Then there’s conduct: he’s mocked people with disabilities, and as an educator, I find that completely unacceptable. I also find it concerning that people are willing to overlook that and continue to support him.
You call “no kings” protests hypocritical, but at the same time we have a president who uses the power of the office to go after those he feels wronged him. When someone in that position talks as if they can do whatever they want, that’s exactly why those protests exist.
He criticizes Biden for how he spoke, yet we’re now seeing similar issues rambling, incoherent statements and people ignore it.
And then there’s Epstein. There were and are documented associations there, and in other countries, people have lost titles and positions over this. Here, it feels like those concerns are minimized or ignored entirely with this administration. That raises a bigger question of when did we start deciding that kind of behavior is acceptable in our leadership?
That’s where I see the real hypocrisy.
