The Doberman Gang of NYC

The Doberman Gang of NYC We are the dobies of the NYC boroughs who love to get together for anything and everything from beer

The Doberman Gang of NYC is a social group of humans and their dogs, and networks with doberman lovers worldwide but is not officially affiliated with any other Doberman Gangs or social groups, and does not promote any individual breeders, without exception. We will instead refer people to our favorite breed specific rescue organizations, like DVDPA (Delaware Valley Doberman Pinscher Assistance)
We formed in February of 2013 as a play group to provide an outlet in a dense urban environment where exercise & socialization are vital. We soon morphed into a close knit circle of friends & began to grow quickly. We now meet frequently for events as diverse as riding the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island, marching in the Steuben Parade on 5th Ave, or dock diving & hiking upstate. We work hard to provide a supportive community for all dobies and their families through shared experiences, and learning, together.

🇺🇸🇩🇪 MEET THE MARCHERS: SHADOW! 🐾

Making his Fifth Avenue debut this year is handsome Shadow! 🖤

Shadow is just 1½ years old, and this will be his very first time marching with the Doberman Gang of NYC! He is an absolute sweetheart who takes his family duties very seriously: cuddles and kisses with Mom, wrestling matches with Dad, and making sure absolutely NOTHING happens without his involvement. 😂

If his humans are doing it, Shadow needs to be there. Personal space? Never heard of it. 😆 Just your classic Velcro Doberman who wants to be right in the middle of everything!

We can’t wait to welcome this sweet boy for his first march up Fifth Avenue! 🇺🇸🇩🇪❤️

🇺🇸🇩🇪 MEET THE MARCHERS: RHAPSODY! 🐾

Making her Steuben Parade debut this year is the beautiful Rhapsody — CH Marbendale’s Rhapsody in Blue! 💙

Rhapsody is a gorgeous blue girl who already has her AKC Championship and is now working toward her Grand Championship. But she’s definitely more than a pretty face! This girl loves to WORK and PLAY — especially dock diving! She has titles in Dock Diving, Barn Hunt, Trick Dog, Coursing, Fast CAT and more, and she’s also passed her WAE/WAC. 💪🐾

And personality? Apparently Rhapsody has enough for several Dobermans. 😂 She is the ultimate Miss Congeniality — loves everybody, wants to be involved in everything… and does. not. shut. up. 🤣📣

Beauty, brains, athleticism and a whole lot of opinions — sounds like a Doberman to us. ❤️

We can’t wait to welcome Rhapsody for her very first march up Fifth Avenue! 🇺🇸🇩🇪🐾

Happy fifth birthday, Pele!

Pele has been battling GI lymphoma since early this summer. This girl is a fighter, after months of chemo and meds she has rebounded beautifully. Please send all your thoughts, love and prayers to Pele and her mom as she goes in for an ultrasound and X-rays to determine if her cancer is in remission 🙏

Sending all our love to this beautiful girl 🤎

🐾 MEET THE MARCHERS: OZZY! 🇩🇪🇺🇸

Meet Ozzy, who is almost 4 years old and getting ready for his 3rd trip up Fifth Avenue with the Doberman Gang! 🖤🤎

By day, Ozzy holds the very important position of Office Manager at a Pilates studio—a role that apparently involves supervising workouts, greeting clients, and making sure no available hands go to waste. 😂 If your hands are free, Ozzy will happily put them to work giving him scratches. Anywhere. Anytime.

When he’s off the clock, Ozzy loves hitting the trails for a good hike… presumably followed by even more scratches.

We can’t wait to have this handsome working professional back with us for parade number 3! 🇩🇪🇺🇸🐾

🇩🇪🇺🇸 Meet the Marchers: BRODY 🐾

Meet Brody, back for his second Steuben Parade! ❤️

Brody enjoys the finer things in life: long walks on the beach, midnight snacks, and watching very closely while anyone eats. 😂 His official household job is vacuuming—if it’s edible and hits the floor, Brody has it handled.

♓️ A Pisces through and through, Brody would also like it officially noted that he is NEVER bad. Any reports suggesting otherwise are completely unfounded. 😂

But Brody is carrying on a pretty special family tradition. Long before he came along, his family marched Fifth Avenue with one of our Doberman Gang OGs, Blue. ❤️ Now Brody is keeping that tradition going, one parade—and one floor snack—at a time.

We can’t wait to have Brody back on Fifth Avenue! 🇩🇪🇺🇸🐾

🇩🇪🇺🇸 Meet the Marchers: JUSTICE 🐾

At just 2 years old, Justice is already returning for his SECOND Steuben Parade! 🖤❤️

And marching Fifth Avenue is apparently a family tradition—Justice’s great-uncle Bullet proudly marched with the Doberman Gang several times before him. Now Justice is carrying on the legacy, one set of paws at a time. 🐾

Two years old. Two parades. And plenty more Fifth Avenue struts ahead. 🇩🇪🇺🇸

Justice is ready to march! 🖤

🇺🇸🇩🇪 MEET OUR PARADE LEADERS: VIV & RANGER 🇩🇪🇺🇸

Every year, we choose a child and their Doberman for one very important job: leading the Doberman Gang up Fifth Avenue.

It sounds glamorous — but it’s no small assignment! Our young handler has to work hard preparing their dog to heel through cheering crowds, music, flags, city noise and endless distractions… all while leading several dozen Dobermans and potentially 100 people behind them.

And this year, our leaders are making a little history. ❤️

Viv is 7 years old. Ranger is just 4 months old — making him the youngest AND the first puppy ever to lead our parade! 🐾

But Viv’s history with this parade started long before Ranger.

Her family has been marching with us for 13 years, first with their beloved Porsche and later with Rue. In fact, when Viv’s mom first walked Fifth Avenue with Porsche, Viv wasn’t even born yet.

Then came Viv’s first Steuben Parade — at just 9 WEEKS old! Her mom managed a baby AND a Doberman on parade day, promptly earning herself the unofficial title of Supermom. 😂❤️

Last year, Viv got her first chance at the front of the pack, leading the parade alongside her brother Wyatt and their girl Rue.

This year, she’s stepping up again — but now she has a brand-new partner.

At only four months old, Ranger has a LOT to learn before those paws hit Fifth Avenue. And at only seven, Viv has taken on the challenge of preparing him for one of the biggest, loudest and most exciting walks of his young life.

Thirteen years. Three Dobermans. Two generations. And one very special family tradition.

On September 19th, when you see that tiny puppy and his very determined little handler at the front of our pack, give Viv & Ranger an extra-big cheer.

They’ve got a whole lot of Dobermans counting on them. ❤️🐾🇺🇸🇩🇪

🐾 MEET THE MARCHERS: SABINE 🐾🇩🇪🇺🇸 (visit our event links below for information on our 13th year marching in NYC on Saturday, September 19) 🇩🇪🇺🇸

Meet Sabine Otsuka-Keane, a six-year-old Doberman with one seriously determined spirit. ❤️

Sabine’s journey began in South Carolina, where she sadly lost her owner before finding her way to the ASPCA in Briarcliff Manor. A rescue advocate spotted her photo and couldn’t believe how much she resembled Griffon — and when Sabine joined the family at just 10 months old, she and Griffon became best friends almost immediately. 🥹🐾

At around 15 months, Sabine began showing signs of Dancing Doberman Disease (DDD), a hereditary neuromuscular condition affecting the rear legs. Her case progressed significantly, and by two years old, Sabine needed wheels for her daily adventures.

And this girl has put some miles on those wheels! 💪 She’s gone through two wheelchair frames and THREE sets of wheels — literally wearing them down to the nubs. 😂

Sabine has proudly joined the Doberman Gang Parade three times, adapting along the way but never letting her disability keep her from being part of the pack. This year, she’ll be marching with us again — while her beloved Griffon marches beside her in spirit and with his new set of wings. 🪽❤️

Sweet, quirky, resilient and completely unforgettable — Sabine reminds us that sometimes marching looks a little different, but the heart behind it is exactly the same. 🇺🇸🇩🇪🐾
