Twenty-five years later, the courage, sacrifice, and loss of September 11, 2001, remain forever etched in the heart of New York City and our nation.
The New York City Police Foundation remembers the 2,977 lives lost that day—including 23 members of the NYPD—and honors the officers, firefighters, and first responders who ran toward the danger. Tragically, the losses did not end on 9/11, as we honor the 469 NYPD heroes and all those who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses.
Their legacy lives on in all who continue to serve and protect our city. Together, we will .
