Founded in 1921, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey builds, operates, and maintains many of the most important transportation and trade infrastructure assets in the country. The agency’s network of aviation, ground, rail, and seaport facilities is among the busiest in the country, supports more than 550,000 regional jobs, and generates more than $23 billion in annual wages and $80 billi

New ADA fare gates are now live at the World Trade Center station as the TAPP rollout nears completion. The upgrades are designed to make travel easier for riders using wheelchairs, strollers, luggage, and more — and they’re part of a much bigger modernization effort across the system.

After years of planning, testing, and upgrades, SmartLink cards will officially retire on Aug. 31 as PATH moves fully to TAPP.

Big changes are coming to Newark Liberty's Terminal B.

The Port Authority just approved $75 million to improve Terminal B with upgraded gate areas, renovated restrooms, better lighting, new seating, and improved elevators and escalators — all part of a larger $200 million modernization effort, while plans move forward for a brand-new Terminal B.

With more than 11 million travelers using the terminal each year, these upgrades will make the airport experience more comfortable and accessible for travelers through Newark’s Terminal B.

25 years later, John F. Kennedy International Airport - JFK Terminal 4 is still making history.

The Port Authority and JFKIAT are celebrating 25 years of partnership at JFK’s Terminal 4, the first airport terminal in the U.S. operated through a non-airline public-private partnership.

Since opening, T4 has grown from serving 4 million passengers to more than 27 million travelers every year. The terminal has also completed a $1.5 billion expansion and earned LEED Platinum recognition for sustainability.

It’s all part of the larger transformation happening across JFK Airport to create a better experience for travelers from around the world.

PAPD Detective James Wyka spent nearly two decades pursuing justice in the kidnapping case of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Rohde. Working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, Det. Wyka helped track leads across continents and coordinate the arrest of the primary suspect overseas.

His story is about persistence, patience, and never walking away from unfinished work.

We finally uncovered the real reason Stephen Colbert is ending The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

He found out we’re replacing the Port Authority Bus Terminal — his favorite late-night punchline.

For years, Colbert turned our terminal into a recurring character on his show, from SPAM jokes to “unique crystal” sightings and everything in between. Honestly, we respected the dedication.

Now, as Colbert prepares to say goodbye to late-night, we’re also preparing to say farewell to the old Midtown Bus Terminal before a new, modern facility takes its place.

Every line. Every day. PATH just got better.

Starting Sunday, May 17 at 10 a.m., PATH riders will experience the system’s biggest service enhancements in 25 years.

For the first time since 2001, all four PATH lines will operate seven days a week — improving weekend connectivity, reducing wait times, and making trips more direct and convenient for riders across the region.

What’s changing on weekends:
• Journal Square–33 St service every 10 minutes
• Hoboken–33 St service every 10 minutes
• Direct Hoboken–World Trade Center service every 20 minutes
• Improved Friday late-night service every 20 minutes until 2 a.m.
• More direct rides and increased capacity

These improvements were made possible through the Port Authority’s completed $430 million PATH Forward modernization program, which included:
✔️ Replacing more than 15,000 feet of track
✔️ Installing new rail switch systems
✔️ Upgrading stations across the system
✔️ Modernizing railcars and improving reliability
✔️ Enhancing customer communications during service disruptions

“Sunday marks the return of all four PATH lines running every day of the week, which will speed up rides for our weekend customers,” said Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia. “Our riders put up with us through every weekend closure and every reroute during PATH Forward work, and we did not lose sight of why and who we were doing this work for. We heard you loud and clear.”

Cleaner airport operations are coming to LaGuardia Airport's Terminal B

The Port Authority and LaGuardia Gateway Partners are expanding electric ground support equipment charging infrastructure with 164 new charging ports across the terminal’s concourses and baggage areas — more than doubling the current capacity.

Why does it matter? Transitioning from fossil fuel-powered equipment to electric equipment helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and support a more sustainable future for aviation.

“Transitioning from ground support equipment powered by fossil fuels to electric equipment is one of the dozens of strategies the Port Authority has identified to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the agency,” said Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia. “LaGuardia Gateway Partners’ plan to more than double the number of electric charging stations at Terminal B is a welcome contribution to the Port Authority’s commitment to reaching net-zero by 2050.”

The project is expected to be completed in 2027 and supports the Port Authority’s commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

We are continuing to investigate this morning’s incident involving debris falling onto the westbound Trans-Manhattan Expressway approach to the lower level of the George Washington Bridge.

All westbound lanes leading to the GWB lower level remain closed while inspections and repairs continue. We expect the closure to remain in place through this evening’s rush hour.

Drivers heading toward the 181st Street exit are being diverted via Jerome Avenue and the Major Deegan Expressway. The 181st Street exit remains closed.

Motorists should expect significant delays and use alternate routes if possible. Additional updates will be provided as conditions change.
