Thanks to all of our Northern Dutchess Democratic neighbors for coming to our annual Wine and Sign Petition Party to help our great candidates get on the ballot. We did our civic duty and had a blast at the same time!

Special thanks to our candidates for taking the time out of their busy schedules to spend the afternoon with us.

“Perhaps men are too emotional to be President,” -Justin Wolfers, a professor of public policy and economics at the University of Michigan.

In the debate Tuesday night, Kamala Harris roundly made it clear that Trump is not pushing around anyone any more. Over the course of the debate, Harris called him out on his policy failures, corrected his lies, and laid out a vision of a forward-thinking America that is ready to rebuild our country, not tear it down. Meanwhile, Trump doubled down on xenophobic fearmongering, constantly repeating debunked lies about immigrants and asylum seekers in the US. America has a choice ahead of itself, and as Tuesday night proved, the choice is between common sense and insanity.

“We are not going back. We are going forward.” - Sam Moyer, chair of the Clinton Democratic Committee. These are sentiments that resounded at the NDD event last saturday, where local Democrats organized to talk, listen, and get motivated for the upcoming election. Didi Barret came and gave a rousing speech, as did representatives of Dan Aymar-Blair and Pat Ryan. Thank you so much to all the people who came and donated precious time and money. Said Gully Stanford of Pleasant Valley and Secretary of the Northern Dutchess Democrats: “We plan, we canvass, and we win elections by working together.” Make sure to come to our canvassing seminar soon! Check back on our instagram page for details.

Access to medical care is essential for the livelihood of seniors, and too often seniors on medicare have to go to hospitals for the same treatment they could recieve at home, due to an archaic requirement within Medicare law. Pat Ryan wants to reform this to allow medical professionals to administer this care at home and be reimbursed by medicare, lowering hospital wait times and improving health among the often homebound elderly, and ensuring that medical professionals get the compensation they deserve.
