For millions of New Yorkers, especially women, caregivers, and low-wage workers, rent stabilization isn't just a housing policy. It's the difference between staying in your neighborhood and being pushed out of it.

Each year, the NYC Rent Guidelines Board (RGB) determines how much landlords can increase rents on stabilized apartments. Before their final vote, the Board holds public hearings across the boroughs, becoming one of the most direct opportunities everyday New Yorkers have to amplify their voices.

• Queens: June 4, 5–8 PM | Jamaica Performing Arts Center
• Bronx: June 8, 5–8 PM | Hostos Community College/CUNY
• Brooklyn: June 11, 7–10 PM | Theater at City Tech, NYC College of Technology
• Manhattan: June 16, 5–8 PM | Symphony Space

Final Vote: June 25 at 7 PM | El Museo del Barrio, Manhattan

Hearing registration opens May 14 at 9 AM. To find out the full details and register, visit: https://rentguidelinesboard.cityofnewyork.us/2026-meetings/

Did you know you have a direct say in how NYC spends its budget?

The People's Money is NYC's annual citywide participatory budgeting process where residents decide how to spend the city's budget on real community projects such as mental health services, childcare support, youth programming, food access, and more.

Any New Yorker age 11 and up can vote, with no citizenship or registration required. When working people, youth, and parts of every community show up, the budget reflects it.

Vote online or in person across all five boroughs starting May 6: https://bit.ly/ThePeoplesMoneyBallot

The NYC 2026 budget is $115.9 billion, and every dollar reflects a choice about who gets supported and who gets left behind.

WCC’s ‘The New York City Budget: An Introduction’ Get-Involved guide breaks down how billions are allocated across housing, healthcare, education, and public safety, and how New Yorkers can show up and make their priorities heard. When you understand the budget, you’re better equipped to speak up, get involved, and push for investments your community needs.

Women in NYC outvote men in every election cycle (WCC, The Power of Participation, 2025). That power matters. With a 23% pay gap for women of color, 86% of single mothers unable to meet basic expenses, and 50% of NYC households falling below the basic needs threshold (WCC, State of NYC Women Report, 2025), the people on your ballot will decide what happens next on childcare, wages, housing, and healthcare.

City and state primaries determine who represents your community, and the June 2026 primary is your chance to shape what comes next.

Mark your calendars! Voter Registration Deadline is June 13th and the Primary Election Day is June 23rd.

Women's issues are community issues.

Nathifa Forde explains why real progress starts with recognizing that thriving families are the foundation of strong communities, ensuring women are heard, seen, and supported to reach their full potential. That means investing in young women at every stage: through school, into careers, and across all phases of life.

Survival comes at a cost, and for many women, that cost continues to rise.

Rent, childcare, groceries, healthcare: the costs keep climbing while wages stall. Women Creating Change connects women and gender-expansive New Yorkers to critical resources, driving the policy changes that address this gap.

Your organization’s support helps us expand that work: benefits navigation, childcare resources, wage justice advocacy, and research that moves policy.
